  1. I will drive the car on the street around my community and thats about it. Mostly it will be trailered to the track (sometimes I will drive there if I am lazy). I do not need to worry about emmision testing. I am mechanically inclined, just never touched the internals except for replacing a cam or heads. I would like to stay under $1500. I would also like to get a set of heads that I can use on my next engine when I get around to building it later this year. We are looking at around 400-450hp on the next engine. I would just like to get as much as I can out of this engine, but I will not do anything else to the current engine besides head and a cam. I was very disappointed that I could not finish a 1/4 mile pass. The new tires will be on next week so that should help but I really need some combo that can get me to 6000rpm or so. I did plan on getting a 3000 rpm stall, but I did not plan on putting it in until I install the next engine. I can do it earlier though. That is mostly because I live near Phoenix and it is HOT out here. I figure this cam will not transfer over, but if the heads do I will happy.
  2. Thanks for the info. I do have a performer rpm intake on it. I meant to say that the internals of the engine are stock. The converter is stock. I will build another engine over the winter so I am just looking for a little something more right now. Actually, I would like to complete a full pass without floating valves. Any prefferences on cam selection? Also, is there a big difference between the 180 and 200cc models?
  3. My car is a 260z with 3.90 gear ratio. I have a STOCK 350 with the worst heads possible and a th350 tranny. this is just my starter engine, but I would like to go faster. My buddy has a couple old chevy's he takes to the track so he is helping me a little, but after seeing my car run last weekend I don't think he wants to help me anymore (he does not want me to be faster than him). I only ran 13.4 at 94mph but I also had to get off the gas at about 1000 feet because I started floating valves. Simply put, I did not have enough gear. I will fix part of that by replacing my tires with 235/60 15. This will give me another 3" in the back. I want to replace the heads and cam at the same time as my tires. I was thinking about iron eagle 180cc or the 200cc. I don't have any idea which cam I will need. My buddy will still help me with everything, but I want to make sure he does not try to talk me out of something that might be a little better. any help would be great.
  4. Has anyone run these on their car? I need to know if they fit. I am looking to purchase a set of 15x7 draglite rims for these tires, but I don't know if I will have the clearance. I don't know much about backspacing and offset. Any help would be great. I have done some searches but I did not find anything specific about this size tire.
  5. I still have to drop the tank to remove one of the bumper supports. At that time I am going to vent the tank from the top, but for now I drilled 2 holes in my gas cap. I will try removing the cap to see if that makes a difference. thanks
  6. I start at 6psi, but when I get home and check the pressure it is at 1psi. I have a summit 140gph fuel pump located near the fuel tank even with the bottom and a holley dead head regulator. I will be switching it out to a by-pass style, but I don't think the pressure should be this drastic. My first thought was vapor-lock so I switched to steel braided line and moved it to the outside of the frame rail and away from the exhaust. I routed it away from the headers (which are wrapped) but the pressure still drops after I drive for a while. Any ideas???
  7. Has anyone else tried the S&S 5205 headers? Are there any issues with making them fit?
  8. I was under the impression that you had to use block hugger headers with the JTR installation. Is it possible to use full length 1 5/8" headers? If so, what brand fits?
  9. Thanks for that last reply. The set up seemed right to me, but I was hoping someone else has run it so I did not have to do what you did and try them all. What kind of time were you pulling at the track? Your motor sounds similar to the one I am putting in first.
  10. it does not need a motor or tranny. I am looking for a straight body with minimal rust. I know it is old so I am not looking for perfection. Prefer a somewhat clean dash, but not that worried about it. I am located near phoenix, az but I am always in san diego and I go to orange county for work. If you have something and are not near phoenix please email me with pictures. Thanks Chris madden87@hotmail.com
  11. Its funny that you mentioned that cam setup. My buddy has been build chevy's all his life and is building the motor for this car. That is the cam he said I should run. Nice to here it from someone other than my chevy know-it-all buddy. I found a site yesterday that has all the diff's and cars they came in on it, but I did not bookmark it and now I don't know where it is. Anyone have this information? or at least which cars came with the r200 3.90.
  12. This car is being built to go in a straight line. I will drive it on the weekends once in a while, but I live in Phoenix so it will be too hot most of the year. I was leaning towards the 3.90, but was not sure. The nice thing is if I change my mind and want to drive it on the street more after it is done I can always put in a 700r4. I just have a feeling I won't want to drive this motor on the street no matter what gear ratio I have in it.
  13. I am picking up a 240z this week. I already have most of the parts i need to complete the sbc v8 installation. Now I am trying to decide what differential to use. The motor I am puting in now have under 400hp, but the one I am building with be a little higher. I am not looking to go to a solid axle yet so what is the correct gear ratio I should use in the r200? I am using a t350 tranny. This will be a track car that I may drive on the weekend. I am not worried about freeway speeds because they are not close to where I live. I was looking at the 3.90 or the 3.70. I would appreciate any advise from people that have already tried these in their cars.
