  1. Something to think about for the near future hey?????
  2. well if you going for the RB swop then obviously forget my last post with regards to the engineering etc... Did you drive it before it blew?
  3. I usualy use a stanley knife blade to clean or basically scrape the flat surfaces clean...check that radiators not blocked, thermostat, water pump and then take the head to an engineering shop as i mentioned before and have it pressure tested to check for cracks and basically take it from there. If cracked it must get welded or replaced,if not then just skimmed.I also highly recommend you get the block skimmed too. There must be a reason for the pressure build-up causing the blown head gasket...
  4. Yeah what I normally do is drill little holes through the hats/bases and wrap wire around the springs in a U then twist the 2 loose ends of wire up until the springs are pretty tight up against the hats/bases.Dont trust zipties myself for these applications...
  5. Hey Wedge I agree about sanding the 1 spot on the block, you gonna have to get the block checked with a straight edge and probably skimmed a little like the head gets done.So get that checked before continuing with the head!!!!!A torque wrench aint expensive otherwise just borrow 1 like i usually do...the last head gasket obviously blew from a water port to piston and just a quick question:Have you found the reason for the blown head gasket?
  6. Ok so it appears nobody knows of any way to help or much about the euro or JDM spec ecu's with single plug harnesses for the L28et,so what im gonna do is use my stock non-turbo ecu, stock wiring harness, the turbo AFM,my stock dizzy for obvious reasons and fire her up...What do you think,anyone...? Was discussing this last night with Stagefumer11 and he seems to think im on the right track....
  7. Carfiche.com rotates the downloads coz the feed is limited,i got the 82 280zx FSM off there just yesterday within an hour of trying about 6 times
  8. Have your head pressure tested first to see if its cracked, usually can be done at the engineering shop and if its not cracked a quick skim will do.Any oil on the pistons when you took the head off? coz if there was you might be in for a set of rings and bearings....chances are you cooked the rings with the blown gasket.Any water in the oil pan or just in the water system(radiator etc.)?
  9. use a gasket sealer then plug the hole with silicon or poly-urethane once youve tightened the water pump, that should block it temporarily
  10. Yup,carfiche.com has the complete factory manuals for free...
  11. like i said was just makin sure coz we dont get the L28et motors in South Africa but my initial assumption was correct and Monday she will be smokin tyres yeeehahahahahah
  12. well,i just had a flange made up at an engineering shop for real cheap here in South Africa, was cheaper than buying a pre-made one....
  13. blue circle gets a bolt YES,not too sure about the red circle though, picture not that clear looks like it just behind the crank pulley.... i just did my rear main seal, you need to do your main crank pulley seal, thats what it is to me,its quite an easy job which can be done without taking your motor out....
  14. I assumed that they all the same, just thought i would check here first but im gonna pull the cam cover off anyway, make sure the dizzy is lined up and just turn the motor over to see which piston goes into compression first and take it from there the good old way.Boosting IS the next step no doubt, what size sides you running?Motor stock?
  15. im from South Africa and me plus a mate have stroker 3.1 L28's,not sure what my mate is running but my previous car with the stroker motor had 500lift with 290 degrees. Its what we call R77 and L9 cams (different makes) over here for good bottom and mid range performance with the torque of the motor.Very satisfied.....
  16. So its not the same as conventional L28's which are 1 5 3 6 2 4.....??????
  17. just wanna make sure before i take cam cover off what the firing order for L28et motor is,US European and JDM if any differences which im assuming not.....?
  18. thanks,is it the 3 plug ecu? because the ecu and harness i got with my L28et motor was a single plug efi setup and i was wandering if i could use the original ecu for an L28s motor on the L28et if the firing order is the same?
  19. cool, would it be possible to use the stock L28s efi ecu on the L28et motor if the firing order is the same?
  20. Hi all,i have recently installed an L28et motor into my South African built R30 2door L28S Skyline (GTX).The ecu i got with the motor has L28MT on the tag and the plug-in from the harness is the same single plug-in as the non turbo ecu plug and not the 3 plug-ins you get with the USA L28et ecu's.Does anyone have any input or assistance or advice or help PLEASE? Any assistance about the single plug setup would be greatly appreciated,i'm assuming it comes from a different country...
