  2. hello, again Z masters i just got another 78 280z and was able to start it after it has been sitting for 1 year and a half. the problem is that the motor will not rev past 2500 rpms. idles fine..starts up nice... i've change the air flow meter and still the same . changed the fuel and fuel filter. changed the plugs and wire and cap and rotor. sprayed either and found no leaks . check connections and vacuum hoses.. ...injectors click nicely... i'd appreciate any idea's or answers.. happy V and hope U get luck E. thanks jb
  3. A quick question on a 78' 280z exhaust. Whould an exhaust leak on the manifold cause idle problems? Some coolant spilled on top of the intake manifold while replacing the thermostat. After start-up white smoke from exhaust and unstable idle. A constant clicking sound also began in that area(thermo housing, injector #1 and #2) at idle. The white smoke eventually burned away but the clicking and unstable idle still there..The clicking go's away when i rev the motor up..Also loss of power at the bottom end of the rpm range..Before then the motor ran real well.. Please help me . Thankyou so much.. jb
  4. well, replaced the temp sender..the one with the male plug on the thermostat housing and did get the gage to work. but, when removing the sender i had to use a lot of elbow grease to get it out of the housing ... i drained the coolant just below the upper hose, but when i removed the thermostat a lot of coolant spilled over and on the intake manifold. cleaned it off. replace everything back. started the z and white smoke everywhere and i noticed a tapping sound around the thermostat housing or injector 1 or 2..tap tap tap louder than the rocker arms themselves. eventually the smoke when away but the tapping sound still there with a big loss of power..fixed a problem just to create a problem.. what an idiot.. before all that the z was running real nice and crispy. please help..what have i done?
  5. thanks, for the site.. also got more help from the z-man of washington. thanks z-man. jb
