  1. Yeah, but once I find one, do I need a chevy driveshaft or my nissan one or both? Need to know wether to make a trip to the junkyard or not.
  2. I'm finishing up a Chevy 350 install with a TH350 tranny in an 88 300ZX Turbo, but I don't know what to use as a driveshaft or where to get it cut/made. Any ideas? I'm in Houston or Austin.
  3. I just got my 350 cleaned and bored .030 over, and I'm ready to start putting it all together. I hear that a 383 Crank can be had for under $300, but I was wondering what else I need to make it work. I have to buy pistons since I went .030 over, but do I need anything more than KB Hypereutectics? Do I have to have forged? And what about rods? What other things do I need to worry about? Thanks.
  4. Easy to maintain? Easy to install? NO ELECTRONICS!!! I'm putting a small block chevy 350 into an 88 turbo right now. Holley 650CFM Carb. GM 700R4 Tranny. All I gotta worry about is fuel, throttle, and kickdown cable, and it'll be running. Oh, I also agree that being able to follow instructions will get you NOWHERE in swapping a motor. If you're planning on dropping a chevy engine in there, there are VERY few people who have done it before to the Z31. No one's gonna be there to answer your question about oil pan clearances around the steering, or anything else you might run across. Good luck with your swap, whatever you decide to put in it.
  5. Well, I'm swapping a Small Block Chevy into a Z31 for what I hope will come out to less than $1000. So far... Engine - $100 Heads/Cam - Traded for my turbo and cv shafts out of my 280ZX 700R4 Transmission from junkyard - Traded for my brand new roadhuggers from 280ZX Dual Plane Intake with Holley 650 Double Pumper - $75 1988 Nissan 300ZX Turbo in almost excellent condition - $150 ($300 split with my friend cuz he needed the engine) I'm making the motor mounts myself from Lowes for under $100 So far I'm on budget, and I don't really have much left to buy. I don't know if it's really a fair price, though, cuz I got a crazy good deal on both the Small Block and the 300ZX, and then I traded some parts from my old 280ZX.
  6. Thank you all! This thread has multiplied my current knowledge of what I should get by a LOT. I'll let y'all know how it goes once everything is in the car and running.
  7. If I'm going to the junkyard to pick up a transmission, what parts should I make sure to pick up? The car it's going in is a 1988 300ZX Turbo Automatic, but I don't know what I need to get as far as shifter cables and whatnot. Also, anything else that needs to come off that engine (1982 Firebird) to make the transmission work with my 1979 Chevy 350. I don't have any experience with automatic tranny's, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Any ideas you guys can give me before I start chopping up quarter inch steel plates to fit, troubles you had, etc. Let me learn from your mistakes. It would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, any measurements you could give or ideas for which automatic tranny to use, I'd be grateful. Thanks, guys!
