  1. Thnaks Yep... it was ice I have been getting this a lot, the car is definitely real... and life sized haha
  2. Thanks. Yeah, I was talking about the splitter, and I had originally thought it was custom but someone earlier in this thread had mentioned it was purchased and that got me wondering.
  3. Does anyone know what kind of airdam is on this car?
  4. Washed the Z today so I went out for a photo shoot. I think this is probably my favorite shot of my Z so far. Click the image to see additional info on the lighting used on this image.
  5. Smoked Tail Lights (and blinkers)
  6. Thanks everyone! Here are some new ones.
  7. Really? I cant imagine it would be very easy to access them w/ removing the dash... Does this sometime weekend work for you?
  8. Some new ones from the past week.
  9. Yep, I wanted to see if it would fit correctly before I went all out and purchased all of the gauges. And it was not much trouble at all.... The whole process only took about 2 hours.
  10. One more: It has been raining here for the past few days so I decided to edit some old shots that I was originally going to throw out.
  11. It was part of an MSA kit... im not sure if they sell it separate, or even still sell it for that matter as it was purchased 9 years ago...
  12. Yeah, I attempted to fix that a couple of weeks ago. Its still not perfect, but its better. I am shooting with a Canon XSi. Each image is a link, if you click on it you will be linked to the flickr page of that picture. While there, you can comment on pictures, view the picture large, or you can click "more properties" which shows all EXIF data for that image (including all settings used for that shot). I have been shooting mainly with my Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM lens. Unless I am using my lights, I always shoot wide open at f/2.0 which gives a very nice blurred background. Also this particular lens is one of the sharpest lens' that Canon makes, so that contributes to the crispness of the image.
  13. Thanks! I am actually waiting on drift_zx to complete his coilover setup and if it is good I will be purchasing a set. I am also currently on the lookout for some oldschool mesh wheels: Enkei 92's, riken's, BBS RS', etc.
  14. Thanks Thanks, It was originally done when the car was painted, however I have had to re-do some parts since then. You just simply tape off everything VERY well, sand down the trim with a scotchbrite pad to give it a rough finish for the paint to stick to, and paint with desired color. Spray paint works fine. Thanks, I will definately take some shots of your Z's for you... Once this rain stops
  15. Thanks everyone! And it only has 78K original miles
  16. I posted these over at ZDriver already, but I figured I would post over here as well. About 6 months ago I picked up my first DSLR and decided to start an automotive photography hobby. And of course my test subject of choice is my '83 280zx (NA). Enjoy. And a setup shot: Images link to my flickr page. Click to view large.
  17. It would be used to replace my currently failing distribuitor. I have an '83 and I would like to keep the parts consistent if possible. I guess I could specify '81 to '83.
  18. Does anyone have any cars they are partng out? I need an NA distributor out of an '82 or '83 280ZX. Shipping to 19104. Thanks.
  19. also, I went out last night and cleaned the connections to the sensors. Most of them looked good, all except for the temp gauge sensor which was corroded. While I was there I checked the resistance from the negative terminal to the engine block and got a bad reading so I cleaned all of the ground connections. It runs MUCH smoother now. However it was too cold this morning to get it up to 180 so I was unable to see if I fixed anything. When I get home I'll drive it around the block with the AC on and try and force it to warm up.
  20. tpnorth: no fluid leaks that I am aware of. Roger: the quote was from MSA. MSA only had the chts, but no other temp sensors for the '83. Does anyone know of any other good place to get sensors? Napa? Online?
  21. After reading through the Workshop manual and Fuel Injection Bible, I have a feeling it has something to do with the Water Temperature Switch because it is directly connected to the distributor. The other good possibility, as roger said, would be the Cylinder Head Temp Sensor. I am going to go out right now and clean those two connections, plus all the other sensors on the thermostat housing and see if that helps. If not I am going to have to pull each sensor and manually test them. The cylinder head sensor is $46 alone, so I dont want to start arbitrarily replacing sensors. Although I do have one lying around and have thought about it, I dont have an electric fan installed. Thank you both for your help so far. I will clean the connectors right now, and post tomorrow if it made any difference.
  22. A couple weeks ago while I was driving the 280zx it all of a sudden would not accelerate. It would idle fine, but the moment I would press on the gas to accelerate it falls on its face and sputters, backfires, and hesitates. No matter what I tried, it would not accelerate. Keep in mind that this occurred after about 30 miles of driving. After I parked the car and let it cool down for a while it would go back to normal and drive fine. Prior to this happening (about 500-600 miles) I had replaced the Fuel Filter, Distributor Cap, and Rotor. I figured that the problem was my fuel pump going bad because when it happened the car was getting a little hotter than usual and i only had about 1/4 tank of gas. I thought it was the fuel pump overheating and showing early signs of failure. I purchased a used fuel pump from a forum member here and threw it on... Sure enough problem came back yesterday after driving for an extended period of time! This time I noticed that it happened as soon as the water temp hit 180 degrees (aftermarket water temp gauge). Also this time I made sure to check the fuel pressure while the problem was happening and the fuel pressure was fine. And this time, as soon as the temp dropped below 180 degrees the problem went away. Sorry for the long post. Does anyone have idea what might be causing this? One of the temperature sensors or the ECU? Thanks, John
  23. I like the look of the painted bumpers. Side view mirrors in black might be cool though, I would like to eventually Get the fender mirrors. One of the headlight covers was cracked so I took them off. Also, the ones that were on there were really dark and the headlights could barley shine through. Im starting to like the look of it without the covers. Rear side markers are going to stay red.
  24. SoCal-s130, What size and offset are those wheels?
