  1. I just turned 20 in april. During my junior year in HS, I asked my parents if i can get a project car to mess with, primarily learn off of. We came to an agreement that my limit would be 1000 bucks. At first I wanted a rx7 sa22c just like my step father had until we sold it when i was in junior high. He told me to get a datsun. I wasnt familiar with datsuns at the time, and saw on craigslist 2 280zx's for sale, both being a grand each. I called one of the guys and asked to meet with him to see the car. It was an 81 nonturbo 280zx. I loved it. My first car at age 17. I ended up getting a catback exhaust and front airdam on it with sideskirt, mud guards and a fresh metalic dark blue color on it back in 09. Sold the thing for 1800.

Last summer I bought a 74.5 260z for 1100. Drove it home, and started on it. Saved soem money for a 82 turbo 280z as a donor and paid 1750 for it. I love z's, Im a nissan guy.

  2. I jsut finished wiring the whole thing up and tried to start it and this is what I get!! its a loud clanking noise seems to be somewhere between the tranny and clutch. I am confused and was wondering if anyone had this kind of problem?? the motor is from an 82 turbo zx and i have the fidanza flywheel w/ ACT clutch on it. Any insight or advice would greatly be appreciated!

  3. Visited a few shops in Fresno that deals with hoses and only one of them could do what I asked for. The damn oil cooler had a striped fitting so I got a guy who is going to weld on new fittings that will be JIC fittings. Then I also got another guy who is going to make custom hoses with the JIC fittings on one side and the other side will be new flared lines with the old fittings on it.. I'll post pics soon

  4. Just held the Airdam up the front to see how it would look..seems I hav a problem, the corner lights are in the way of the oil cooler hose .. I might have to relocate the oil cooler. Bludestiny I found this cool place in town that deals with hydraulic hoses and fittings. They also make the hoses and stuff, So I might just make those ss hoses we were talking about.. I can't wait to check out the store!

  5. Just got my airdam today. looks great. I get waht your saying now. Moving it so it wont be so low. Im gonna try to do that on friday since I have the day off, by just looking, the hoses are already in the way of the corner lights. I wonder what I should do now.. well i got 2 days to think about what I plan on doing so yeah. I might just pay a visit to some shops and get some custom lines.

  6. Yeah my MSA airdam [240/early 260 one]is on its way and I wanted to see how if the early signal lights would interfere w/ the oil cooler. I havent checked wheel clearance yet but will do as soon as i get another day off. Pharaohabq what do you mean by rotate the bottom back?

  7. hey blue destiny, yeah it is a bit low. I was gonnna check how low it was but it got kinda dark. I thought about the ss lines but passed on it since I SHOULD work with what I have for now. I only guessed the clearance but its as far as I can put it for now w/o some cutting and stuff.

I want to go to MSA this year but Im pretty much booked so no MSA for me this year. Lao new year is on the 16th and I thought since I havent been to it for along time that I'd go. I WILL be going to formula drift in long beach this saturday though! My first drift event, hope its awesome as hell!!

  8. here are the pics. I gotta say its pretty ghetto rigged but it works for me :D

sheet metal was secured on the fender wall. Its pretty much locked into place alot with jb metal weld around the metal piece for a more flush finish.

  9. Its april now and I thought I'd update my tread. I've been super busy w/ work and school so I hardly had time to work on my car. So far I just cut a hole into the passenger side fender for the oil cooler. It took me awhile since I worked on it about an hour or two ever friday . It looks pretty good so far. I'll post pictures as soon as I find a camera. I used some sheet metal and screws w/ jb weld.

  10. oh yeah I do consider keeping the banjo hardline. I just wanted a longer line to the oil cooler. I wanted to mount the oil cooler elsewhere from the passenger side. But hey Im off to a good start. Im looking at earls plumbing stuff and yeah Might just customize or ATTEMPT to customize my own line. anyone here have any idea what the size is on the banjo hardline end where the stock oil cooler line connects to it?

  11. slownrusty.. that doesnt sound to bad of an idea. ill look into that.

yeah the shops around here arent all that. I only know of a few "good" shops. while most shops here that i know of are unreasonable and unprofessional.

Bludestiny.. yeah the learning phase is very frustrating and stressful, I guess tahts why its called the learning phase lol. btw did you ever get that key I sent you?

  12. Hey guys, I was wondering if there are any aftermarket lines that could be used on the l28et for the oil coolers. I have tried searching online and have not found much. I dont know much w/ fitting sizes and such. If any of you guys have used a certain line "stainless steel prefered" please let me know. I am trying to install this on my 260z turbo swap. Thanks!
