  1. ok, so if this happens to anyone else, make sure your sway bar mounts havent ripped off your frame rails and are sitting on top of your tie rods. that might be whats causing one side to be higher than the other.
  2. So it took me 8 months to finally get all my stuff together and install my coil overs. I did it correctly and used the mr2 rear struts in the front and stock in the rear (illuminas) I sectioned the struts accordingly (about 1.5 inches front and almost 2" rear) i installed everything today and set the threaded sleeve hight so that the upper centering hat sits snug against the upper mount, and was going to adjust from there. but when i put it on the ground, I have to lower the front passenger side 1" lower than the front drivers side for them to be even. I measured the collars, they are at the same height. I looked at spring numbers, they're placed correctly. Im just curious why i need to lower the passenger side almost an inch so its even with the drivers side? is it a weight issue? less weight on the right side? Im fine with that, just wondering if this is normal? looking for a quick reply? any help much appriciated. thanks!
  3. Hey there mongo! My name is Trevor, and i work just up the street from you at Wilsonville Honda. I have driven by your place a couple times to see the progress on your new Z car, or try and gaze at your beautiful 510. (saw it up close at the datsun canby show this year, boy is that thing awesome) anyways, I saw you drive this beast past the dealership the other day and was wondering what might be under the hood once i noticed the 2 exhaust pipes comming out the back, and looky here, I was right! I was wondering if someday after work, or lunchtime i might get to come meet you and chat about your car? Ive got a 73 240z im doing coil overs on right now, and need to mount my fender flares soon as well. Im sure I could learn a lot from you if youre interested in meeting up? or you could always stop by the dealership. Im sure parker would get a kick out of your car as well! Thanks!
  4. Indeed, I did a bit of searching. (for a couple days) i figure ill section my struts, use the MR2 rear strut inserts up front, and the front 240z struts in the rear. looks like that's what everyone else is doing i think. Ill try and take some pictures of the build and do a step by step.... I was trying to get out of it on the cheap. DIDN'T WORK. in fact, i mentioned previously all the new suspension/brake stuff i found out i needed... well i just bought all that crap too... new: rear brakes stainless steel brake lines front lower ball joints front upper strut bearings front tie rod ends I'm sure ill need even more as i go along, haven't even bought the struts yet.... and all this for a sunny day driver... im beginning to develop a love/hate with this car
  5. Well, if I section my strut tubes, I'll have to find shorter struts as well, probably being more expensive. Right? I can't section my struts and expect the stock length replacements to fit can I? I read the FAQ about why, and understand the concept of the lost travel, not as concerned about that as I am getting my z back on the road. I donT mind the lost travel, I only drive it maybe twice a month. I don't want anything to be contactig eachother though. Any other thoughts?
  6. well, got my coil overs, removed my stock spring perches, ground the welds off, and ready to weld on the perches. the instructions say 5" front and 7" rear starting from the bottom. well, that looks a little low to me. ill have to grind off my brake line mounts too if i were to weld them on per instructions. are the instructions correct? I tried to search as much as i could before i posted this topic. I found the pictures of the GC installation instructions, and they are the same ones i got with my kit. this is going to just be a weekend driver, or sunny day car, and im not going to section the strut tubes. I found all my struts were blown (along with many other issues) and since im on a budget, and its not a race car, i was just going to order some tokico blue struts from MSA to replace the old ones. Id also like some input on the strut choice as well. the spring rates i got were 150 front and 175 rear. any help would be appriciated, this is my first post after all.
  7. just bought some interior pieces off a 71 240z from a local part out. I have a 73 240z i got: rear tail light cover both rear 1/4 interior trim (goes over the speaker and vapor separator) transmission tunnel vinyl rear shelf vinyl rear wheel well vinyl shock tower vinyl original 4 speed shift knob in good shape (all this for $120... good deal?) the vinyl seems to fit just fine... but, I cant seem to get the rear 1/4 trim to fit. especially the vapor separator side. just wondering if they're all the same or if they're different. Also am having troubles with the choke cable mounting... does it mount on the center console? i see a couple holes and assume it must... just kinda difficult laying the center console on one side to mount the cables... any help would be appreciated. thanks!
