Hey guys, First and foremost let me apologize for not searching all I can on this topic. I know it has been discussed, but I am in a pickle here. My computer blew up and I got a new one and it blew up and I sent it back, so I'm paying 20 cents a minute for internet here, and I have an opportunity to acquire a 83 datsun 280zx stock not turbo, with a 5 speed trans. I have always wanted to convert my 280zxt auto to a manual 5 speed. My turbo car is mostly stock. Custom down pipe s shaped is the only mod made so far, and I'm wondering if the 5 speed stock trans will hold the torque from the turbo motor without any problem or if I need a turbo 5 speed trans. Please let me apologize again for not searching enough, any help would be appreciated. I have to make a decision on this car tommorrow, and I have been out of work for a minute now, so I can't afford to spend a fortune on the internet right now. My motor is messed up (blown head gasket), in the 280zxt so I was going to make the non turbo motor a turbo and swap the manual 5 speed into my car while i'm at it. Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you guys in advance, I usually can search and know the rules, so please link me to the answers or give me some feedback. Hope to be back on the road soon, and if I get this car I will be parting it out so i'll let you guys know what's up with parts for you if you let me know if I should get it to do what I want to do. Hey Guys, I have blown up the motor in my 280zxt. My girlfriend blew a radiator line in her and drove home with no antifreeze in the motor. Thus warping the head. Since I was planning on building this motor up and it has almost 200,000 miles on it I was looking for a suitable reasonably priced used replacement. I think that it would be in my best interest. Any advice, suggestions, or somebody willing to part with a zxt motor at a reasonable price would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance for the help, I need to get my baby up and running again!

Motorsport auto or black dragon automotive has body kits for the zx's. Should be able to find some there and search because people sell them a lot on hybrid z. Good luck!

Quick Question, I have an 1983 280zxt with a digital dash. My gauge cluster is malfunctioning, and I'm not sure if my fuel tank sending unit is bad or not. My speedo doesn't work, my odometer does work, my tach works, and my coolent temp gauge was working, but recently, as in two days ago, went dark and my fuel gauge usually scrolls up and down over and over, however every once in a while it stays at a fixed point like it is getting a reading. I have a guy on here who wants to sell me a fuel sender from a zx with a analog gauge cluster. Are the fuel sending units the same on both models?

Grab the injector hose with a pair of visegrips as gently as possible and twist the line back and forth on the rail until it breaks free. You should be able to pull it right off then . It worked for me, but I wasn't going to reuse the injectors I was taking off. If you plan to reuse them go slow and easy so you don't tear up the fuel hose coming out of the injectors too bad.

I used seafoam in my 83 280zxt and it cleaned the heck out of my manifold. Blew a lot of smoke out, but hey it had never been done before, and afterward the car ran so much better . I would recommend doing it to your car. I sucked a can into the intake manifold through the brake booster vacumn hose, and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then started the car and let it run until the smoke cleared so to speak. Hi, I have an 83 280zxt . There are three connectors in the ecu wiring harness.Two go to the ecu and I have one two prong male connector just hanging by itself. I have looked but see no female connector that it attaches to. Could someone tell me where this goes or point me in the direction of a wiring diagram for an 83 280zxt with a digital dash ?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows where the voltage regulator is located in a 1983 280zx turbo? Mine is bad and the auto parts store showed me a pic of it but I have no idea where it is. I'm guessing up under the dash somwhere. I'm a noob here and I don't have a wiring diagram for this car. If anyone knows where I could download one of those with the digital dash it would be greatly apprecieated. Thanks for looking!
