  1. I have a p90 here in california in excellent shape bolt on and run it $450 plus Shipping. I have gotten much more for these but don't need this p90 anymore.

I just bought a set of Webers last week so I'll I see if still have this in a month or so.

  2.

I found this out afterwards. I was asking for a quote on just having the chambers welded, and was told I could only get this service in a complete SPL head. I seriously have considered trying it myself as I have two N42 heads. I was going to practice on some old engine cases and such first. Ultimately I have decided now to either just run the N42 or wait for a good deal on an P90 to come up that I can shave.

  3. $11k? Where from? That's highway robbery...

Retail from Kameari's own website shows the retail price as being 435k Yen, which is around $4250 USD. Even with shipping, duties, and some other extra fees, it shouldn't be anywhere close to $11k.

If I were you, I would call Slovers porting out of California and see what they can do for you.

A well-known vendor quoted me this.

  4. I think may try to source a P90 head and possibly even try to work a trade deal up with someone. A P90 head shaved .080" with .080" cam tower shims and a set N42 valves seems to be the best performance for the money.

  5. Looking to trade an N42 cylinder head for a P90 cylinder. N42 came off car that ran before it went into storage 15+ years ago. I really just need the head and the cam mounts, possibly rockers if they are in good shape as I be will getting a new cam, springs and valves anyway.

  6. I've noted that the OZDDAT calculator comes up with figures that are different from other established sources, including Hybrid Z.

EG: I punched in an L28 with Flat-Tops, stock N47 head and stock L28 head gasket. Calculator came up with a 9.7 CR. However, most other sites all report that combo as being over 10 to 1 CR. Usually in the mid 10's. That's quite a difference.

I have noticed the same kind of results as well.

  7. I have two full N42 motors, so i didn't want to source another head. I was just blown away at some of the prices I got, one company wanted $6,000 to weld and and resurface and that didn't include doing the valve job or anything else. I had considered trading someone a N42 head for a P90 head at one point. I just wasn't sure what compression ratio I would be at with a shaved P90 and flat top pistons.I was looking at shaving .080" to get back to 10:1 compression ratio.

  8. I think the problem lies in the premise: WHY exactly are you looking to weld the chambers up?

It seems like a common thing to do to improve airflow and reduce detonation. The process is described in Frank Honsowetz book, also the Kameari SPL head has welded chambers. I seen it discussed on the forums multiple time as well. I just have never seen anyone say were they have had the work done. I also listed all of my engine specifications so i could get input on whether it would benefit my setup or not. I was mainly looking to improve the burn in the head to reduce the risk of detonation and hopefully pick up a few extra horsepower at the same time from the more efficient burn. If i could decrease my chance of detonation, then I would be able to run more timing and take advantage of the higher compression from the N42 flat top combination. Currently I am relying on the cam to reduce my dynamic compression to avoid detonation, and also the re-curved distributor to take full advantage of the triple Webers.

  9. For giggles I did a search for Nissan LD28 products on Alibaba.com and a butt load of vendors came up.

With regards to LD28 crankshafts, this one looked interesting. Better information, pictures and they only require a 5 piece minimum order!

    They look more professional.

    Comments please.

I saw the same this morning when I searched, there are also tons of rod and piston options available.

  10. wasn´t there some part about getting it to work right first and THEN to try and make it better? ....nice thing with replicating a LD is that you can compare against a LD :)

and the work is not challenging as is, but it´s the mentality that does the trick. Think Hubble Telescope and the mirror ^^ (The operator noticed the error but proceeded anyways)

I agree, just stick with a proven setup such as the LD28 stroke length and test the actual durability of the Chinese parts. The main goal here would be a cost effective stroker setup. If you want an all-out max performance stroker kit go with Kameari or call Rebello up and get their custom Brian Crower unit they designed.

  11. They also have 240z length rods required for stroker setups.

    And custom pistons available:

Should have them price 10 setups of LD28 cranks, with 240z length rods, and custom pistons to make a complete stroker kit.

  12. I am currently building my motor on my 280z, and I was looking at having the head chambers welded up. The issue I have ran into is everyone wants big money to perform this service. I was was wondering what everyone's opinion was on if should even weld the chambers, or if someone has a reasonable source to have this service done. My current build list is as follows:

    • N42 Block
    • N42 Head / Ported & Unshrouded
    • .030" over ITM Flat-top pistons
    • 280z rods w/ ARP rod bolts
    • ARP main studs
    • ARP head studs
    • Triple Weber 45 DCOEs with Cannon intake
    • Advance Distributors re-curved 280zx distributor w/  E12-80 ignition module
    • Schneider factory cam regrind 284-92F grind
    • Intake Duration (gross): 284 Exhaust Duration (gross): 292 Intake Duration (.050”): 236 Exhaust Duration (.050”): 244 Intake Valve Lift*: .488" Exhaust Valve Lift*: .504" Lobe Separation: 107 Intake Valve Lash: .010" Exhaust Valve Lash:  .012" RPM Range 3250-7250

  13. Rock Auto has ITM flat tops for L28 for $34.78 USD each. Available in standard sizes and over bores. Just order 6 and be done with it. Rock Auto ships worldwide

    Order for a 1983 a non-Turbo 280ZX . These are flat tops.

Be careful as Rockauto only has rings available in standard and .040" oversize even though they have pistons in .020" and .030". I ran into this issue when I purchased mine awhile back.

  14. Send in the rusty core for regrinding!

Get the open chamber welded closed.

Then put a Microsquirt into the stock ECU Box so everything looks legal and fuel away!

Tony D, do you know any source to get an N42 head welded that is cost effective? I have been quoted anywhere from $2,500 to $6,000! Makes me want to buy a TIG and try my luck after I practice on some scrap heads.

  15. I am looking for a complete 45mm triple carb setup with the manifold and linkage. The condition be can be whatever if the price is right. Keep in mind a brand new set of Webers from MSA is $1,650.00 so I am looking for a cheaper price than this.

  16. I am looking for an R200 rear differential for my 76' 280z. I need a direct bolt-in unit or one with all the parts to make it fit in my 280z. I would prefer it to be LSD of some sort and a gear ratio of either 3.90 or 4.11 to match my 280zx 5-speed transmission. I am located in Northeast Ohio.
