  1. Thanks for the hook-up Kevin, thats exactly what I was looking for. Jay
  2. I went today and got a few pcs. off of these cars and there alot of good stuff still there (interior, glass, trim, dashes, etc.) There is a real nice set of 240 seats in the blue one. He is a real nice guy and we felt good about helping him out. These cars have been at this spot for only a week, so get on it. http://greensboro.craigslist.org/pts/1788289329.html
  3. Thanks for the replies.. Carrera sleeves are ~2.140 Id and my strut housings are 2.165. I have searched afco, stock car products, etc and I can't find one that shows any dimensions other than length. BTW QA1 now owns Carrera so I'm going to the QA-1 site right now..thanks again, Jay
  4. After getting a headache from searching this huge site, and finding some topics locked, I still have a few questions regarding coilovers. Is there a generic coilover sleeve that will fit around a 77 280 strut housing? (only concerned with the fronts) Is the early 240 strut housing a smaller o.d.? And it is shorter? I have the fab skills to do what needs to be done but I am doing this car on a tight budget and appreciate any insight. Thanks, Jay
  5. Vinyl roofs were banned from Nascar in the mid 60's because they were found to be a little faster.
  6. After searching all over here and LS1 tech, I cannot find a solution. I have a warmed up 99 LS1 engine going in a 77 280. My question is: Can I use a camaro, gto, or similar fuel bucket in a flat-bottom plastic fuel cell if the bucket's springs are compressed enough to keep the assy. tight to the floor of the cell? I realize I will have to fabricate a ring arrangement to hold it down. Would this set-up work like it does in a stock GM tank? Thanks in advance from all you knowledgeable dudes.
  7. Thanks for the replies ppl. I am sure you will be seing more of me... I saw on here somewhere how to tell the R180 from the R200 but if someone could tell me for sure.... Thanks.
  8. Hi everyone, I just joined today and after reading posts untill my eyes started to bleed, I want to start with one question. I'm looking at three different 280s. I am planning a sbc with a 4 or 5 speed conversion. Should I buy a 280 with a manual or will an auto trans. car be a good start? I am looking hard at a 76 automatic trans. car because it has the nicest shell. I do have 10+ yrs experience as a Nascar fabricator but I would like to keep this project kinda simple. I do have the JTR book on the way as well. Thanks, Jay
