  1. the daytime running light switch doesnt work either...
  2. the mesh wheels were sick too... not a fan of the vette style tails, but decent looking vehicle.
  3. weren't those the seats in the early s30's?? idk but, that car is set. pretty GREAT looking 240... if i were looking for a collector car, id like the number too. id pay atleast 5k for that. but that is if the body has never been tampered with... but if it truely has 40k on the dash, it may be believable to have such little rust damage and wear...
  4. ok i searched and searched, came back and searched some more... two days ago i put the 280 back on the road, drove and functioned perfectly... today i was informed that i have no tail lights... i have brake, headlights, and turn signals... but all of a sudden no running tails... the fuse is not popped the ground is solid... brake lights function in the same housing... sun is gooooooinggggg dowwwwwwwnnnnnn.... ahhhHhh
  5. i got rid of that psht! thanks so much. it was FREAAKINg me out, lol. thanks again.
  6. quick question... (as the title states) what is this switch for ??? when i purchased my z 8months ago (before stripping the interior), i never was able to figure out what that three way toggle switch was for??? i want to cut it out because i cant figure out what its relevance is, but im sure someone knows... thanks.
  7. swapped a 82 zx alternator in the z, and MAN! WHAT A DIFFERENCE... did away with that crap (brand new) external voltage regulator, and WOOOOO WHOOOOO!!! no more problems...
  8. thanks for the glassing tip. what is the epa btw?
  9. yea, agreed. i think ive decided to do all w/o the sand blasting... if it bites me in the ass, then i'll address it then. but for now, im ready to strip it out, sand, cut, glass, sand primer and paint. then i'd be able to join the galleries like the rest of you. thanks for the support and perspectives on my situation guys.
  10. ok. if you dont know already, which you probably dont (because i am new to the forum as well as the s30), i LOVE my z. i am 23 and this is car number 13 for me. i have built z32's, and 240sx's, along with civics and e36's... but the s30 is on my "DREAM CAR" list... so, i want to take my time with the build, i definately dont want to bore myself out in the process of it... i plan on having this car when i die, so what ever i do to it, i want to make sure its done right... my question is for the painting process. if i had the ablility, i would strip the metal shell and replace it with 100% fiberglass... that just sounds like a pretty long and tedious process, and i doubt that the body lines would be identical to the original, so that is out of the idea for now. these cars obviously rust out pretty good... if by me repairing and painting the exterior of the car, am i going to wind up painting the car again in the near future because of returning rust???? because if possible, i want to paint this car once... (unless i find a way to do fiberglass panels down the road) thanks in advance.
  11. hey guys. ok i've searched this forum on and off for the last 2 maybe 3 months now... im not new to the Z, but i am new to the s30. i picked up my first s30 (76 208z) in august of 08, fixed/stripped it until it got cold in late october. since then its been sitting in the driveway. if i have a sec (which is not often) i'll play with it here and there. i might take it for a drive up the street, only to turn around and put it right back in place... that all is irrelevant, but when i purchased the car, i needed a battery... im going to swap an engine (no time soon, but eventually), so i got a odessey battery... it puts out 14.5v. the v.regulator only allows the alternator to put out 12.5 volts. for this reason my battery doesnt stay charged. (thats the conclusion i came to...) initially, i thought it was the alternator because i replaced the battery (first). by replacing the alternator, i learned that these beasts have externally v.regs, so i replaced that too. but then later learned that my battery output is 14.5, so in order for my alternator to continually charge my battery, it has to be putting out 15volts, right?! (i just thought of this) what if i were to increase the fuse??? i never thought to check the fuse, but i guess if it were popped or even too low, the power i need wouldnt be getting to the battery... (i know im drifting all over the place here) but my main question was, is there a such thing as a performance volatge regulator, or high output v.reg for the z? idk, plz help me out. thanks in advance.
