  1. Sounds great I will look forward to seeing how you do the t5 install because I will be doing the same soon. I am looking now for a world class t5 from a camaro. Some think that the camaro t5 was weaker but I was insured that all the t5 (world class) are of the same strenght. They had more problems with the chev mearly because of the weight of the car and that was the biggest difference between the two.
  2. Well the cam finally showed up so i got it and the comp cams timing set installed today. I got a r200 used from a member off this forum and with some work got the drivers side half shaft shortened 1/2 inch. this was not as hard as expected. I am still faced with the problem of putting a t5 behind an ls motor. I understand that the bellhousing for first gen motors are the same bolt pattern but the crank mounting flange is not the same depth on the ls motors so I am not sure yet how to get around this yet.
  3. what are you going to run for a clutch, flywheel,and presureplate. I am doing the same swap and it appears that the mounting pad for the crank on the ls motors is 3/8 of an inch or so closer to the front of the motor than the first gen motors. the only factory flywheel that will bolt to the crank is not drilled for the bolt pattern needed for the t5 clutch pplate setup. I hope I am wrong or that you have solved this problem.
  4. well i think i will run comp cam xr275hr seems like a good cam. any one tried it ? how did you like it? Rear end is on its way and so are the z06 valve springs soon time to get back at it.
  5. Well I got a 6.0l today from a junk yard needed a few ods and ends. The truck that the motor came out of was hit in the front hard,and i mean hard. The block and one head was cracked but I managed to get the lifters and rockers which i needed.
  6. hi i am starting a 5.3 t56 1971 240z. I will try to keep everybody up to date with info and pics as i go along. so far I have the bottom end buttoned up and am awaiting the springs for the heads and cam. not sure on what i will run for a cam yet. I am looking for a r200 if any one knows where i can get one let me know(sas1971@live.ca). I will have some pats that i am taking out for anyone that is interested. (motor,seats,5spd,rims,ect). I haven't figured out how to get pics. on here yet but will post some as soon as i figure it out.
  7. you are at the same stage in the game as i am. I just put my 5.3 bottom end togeather today. mine is going in a 1971 240 and i am thinking a mustang world class t5. don't know if it is posible to convert it to ls or not.
