  1. Dave, I'm relatively new around these parts, and just wish to throw in my "thumbs up" for your work mate. I'm still only in at entry level (1/12 ) but I am using your detailed build as part inspiration. I still hope to get myself a true 1:1 some day... Good luck with the rest of your fantastic journey mate.
  2. Hey man, That sure looks like a great buy mate..well done. I'll tag along on this one, if you don't mind... Should be fun. cheers Greg
  3. Hey Owen. Mate, that would be SUPER......if you're sure it's not too much bother. I guess I need to know where and how the brakes and fuel gets from front to rear and vise-verse...as well as the mounting points/brackets for the brake cables. I have some decent pics of the front cable brackets. If you're sure you don't mind, I would very much appreciate this mate. Is it easier for you to email them direct, rather than taking up valuable space here...? Hit me via PM if you like.. Many thanks. Greg
  4. Thanks Jerry and Deja.. Deja, there are some good reference pics there...I've saved what I consider "useful" and they will definitely help.....Cheers mate. Jerry, thanks for your input....I've just bit the bullet (5 minutes ago) and bought a "used" manual online....Was at a reasonable price, compared to new.. Hope it arrives in a timely fashion now.... Cheers Greg
  5. Hello guys.. I am in need of some major help... I am not a 240Z owner as yet..but I certainly would like to be at some point..At 49, maybe I've left it a little late...but you never know..... I've done endless searches on here and other forums, as well as Google image searches...looking for detailed undercarriage photos..... I have found some, mostly of great rebuilds taking place, most of which are totally stripped down, in progress pics.....all good. I need some good reference pics showing where, how...all the brake lines and fuel lines run under one of these Z's..... Mounting points for brake lines, brackets for exhaust hangers......that type of thing.... Reason for...I am building a scale replica of a 240ZG, a 1/12 scale Tamiya kit. Because of it's size, I want to add as much real detail as possible... Many of the great pics I've found and saved have helped immensely with the build so far.....but really good under side details have eluded me... I would appreciate it very much if someone here may be able to help out.. Even a link to the start of a rebuild, before the car gets totally striped down.... Sorry to bother you with kids stuff..... Many thanks in advance guys.. cheers Greg
  6. Hi everyone. A little about me, and my hobby... I'm an Aussie, LOVER of anything 240Z related....though not an owner I'm afraid...... I would jump at the chance to get my big bum into one...maybe at some later point in time...... I'm a middle aged petrolhead.....what's up wid dat....? My passion for cars started at a very young age and never left. It even got me started in my hobby at a tender age of 8-9.....that long ago I can't even remember....something about ol'timers disease.... The model kit below has been a "grail" of mine for as long as it's been around. Finally scored off ebay recently at a price which didn't need an overdraft.. I've loved the "long-nose" version forever.....I know it's not everyone's idea of kool, but life would be boring if we all liked the same thing, wouldn't it... This build, may take as long...or longer than some of your magnificent 1:1 builds...I apologize in advance for that...I do work full-time, and only get an hour or so free time of an evening........sometimes....... So progress may seem to stall at times. Here's where I'm at so far..... The kit. The detail in these things is amazing....all the plug leads (with separate plugs) oil lines etc...working coil suspension, steerable wheels.....plus I hope to add a fair amount of extra details...... One of the first things I found out in the kit, it only has "stock" wheels.... I knew they were not going to cut it, not for me anyways......I hit all my local hobby shops, the net....looking for suitable wheels. I found some really nice HPI's in 1/10, but they would look like 22's on this.....Nope.! Not in my life time...... So, the model builder in me took over......I'll make my own. I'm making Watanabe's, 16x8.5 and 16x9.5 and I'm also going to make my own tyres to suit.....Oh man, what have I got myself into..... The wheels. Rough first copy.... The 16inch rims are from an old Porsche kit.....come in handy. This group shot is all of the same centre, with both outer rims made up. I'm going to make a cast of the inner rim/centre, and separate outer rims, make it easy for painting.... That's it for now, thanks for stopping by...and shoot me any Q's you may have. I may need to ask advise along the way, as I really want to make this one a stand out.....All help will be received with much appreciation. All my other stuff is here...http://public.fotki.com/Greg5000/ The Datto is not far from the top... Cheers Greg
