  1. Yea actually I have been disappointed with Mustangs (and so-called muscle cars) for along time now. the last few Camaros were pretty ugly to me, thought they just looked like bigger Geo's. They had some great motors though.

The '99-'04 Mustangs we just as butt ugly to me. I had a '95 and though it was a pretty good looking car.

I've always been a fan of early Mustangs really, they were distinctive, no other car looked like 'em. Kinda like Z's, they were different.

Don't even get me started about the new Charger....4 doors????

As the money sitch gets back to normal now (finally!!) I've been pondering a new project. The only things I can even stomach now are early Z's, Celica's, Falcons (61-63), Mustangs.

I think I'd do things different though this time if I built a Z- but that's just because of how my last project went!!!

    Anyway.....

I think the new cars are too big in general. I can't talk too much because I drive an '02 Siverado Extra cab now (BIG!), but it's a TRUCK! I'm not trying to road race or drag race it....it's what you HAUL the race car with!

I personally think that building a classic car is a better investment AND value because you can not only make it your own, but it can easily outdo a new car. If I took say, a '65 Mustang, did a full resto, put in an EFI motor in it, added all the crap that an '05 Mustang has stock, it would not only weigh probably 1000 less lbs, but cost less and perform better!!! Just think what you could build with a 35k budget!!

Until that isn't true anymore, I won't buy a new performance car.

  2. Yea sorry it took a while to get back on this....got buried and so did the post!!!

I just went through the whole website a few weeks back, cleaned it all up and made everything work. Should be easier to find info there now.

    Still selling the crossmembers. I still don't have a Z though. 8(

  4. Hey Tim, nice guage panel! I did one myself when I had my old '66. I replaced all but the bezel, and put guages and lights in it. Still have some pics of it:

Man, it's been like 4 years since I had that truck. I love old Chevy pickups, up to '72. I used to have a '71 GMC also, brown and ugly, but got me everywhere. Got an '85 Van now for haulin....not really messin' with that!!! (for now)

    Kick *** truck, man!

  5. Hey guys, thanks.

Nice to see you're both still around here. Gonna be a while before I have a new Z, but someday.

Looking forward to coming down and seeing old friends.

And Dave - she can outsing almost everyone I have ever heard. She trained ME! The vocals she did on the album are not even 1% of what she can do. I envy her talent (can't you tell)! Good thing I can write a song or I'd be sunk!!! :P

  6. Hey guys. Long time no post!! Let me tell you, I haven't been just sitting around!

My band, Echoes, has a new CD coming out May 9th, 2005. It's been over 6 months in the making, but I think it's worth it.

I know Alex has been buggin' me for a while for new music - well here it is!! 11 songs, some CD Release shows, and maybe a tour if we get enough people to come out!

You can check out the CD HERE.

The CD Release shows will be:

5/14/05 @ Hazel Dell Grange Hall, Vancouver WA

    5/27/05 @ Rooster's Roadhouse, Alameda CA

5/28/05 @ Four Seasons Bowl, Hillsboro OR

For more info and directions to the shows, click HERE

We're also doing a pre-order right now. If you pre-order the CD, you get the CD the day it is released, PLUS you can download 2 songs from the album on the spot, in addition to the tracks already posted on the site!!

Thanks guys, hope you like the new music!!!

  7. Sorry it took me a minute to respond to this, but it was all I could do to not throw the monitor out the window!!! :x:cuss::sour:

WTF is wrong with people today? Bush is the President of the United States, like him or not. He IS the 43rd President and no one can take that from him EVER. He was elected, and has been in that office almost a full term. He has earned the right to have his picture up there next to Reagan, Clinton, JFK, LBJ, FDR, Lincoln, etc. That is complete BS.

I am NOT a fan of Bush (although even less of Kerry) but I won't stand for this crap much longer. People need to grow up and start getting behind this country instead of trying to tear it apart. I have heard of people setting Bush and Kerry signs on fire in front of people houses, taking shots at the signs, bashing people's car windows who have stickers on them....WTF is going on?!?!?!?

Sorry, I'm pretty pissed. I usually don't get into political debates, but this is WAY out of control. Grow up America, learn about the candidates, choose the one that best represents your views, vote for them. That is all.

    Al :?

  8. WEll, not really into turbos, never really have been. Drove a couple, I'm SO much more about torque. That's the whole reason for the 302 in a Z thing - light car, low end torque. I know the TT has some bottom end torque, but it's still not the same as a NA larger displacement motor. Kinda like comapring say a DOHC Cobra and a Saleen 351 with the same power, it just doesn't FEEL the same.

So, anyway, does anyone know if the new motor is a new generation of the Z32 motor or a new motor?

  9. Hey guys!

As some of you know, (well, Alex) I am going to get a '95 or '96 300zx NA to replace my Tacoma that my son is getting for getting his license.

Now being the evil tinkerer I am, the first thing I think is, "what can I do to this car?". I am a BIG fan of the stock 300zx, but 222hp will only be good for SO long.

Not sure if anyone's done this yet. But figured I'm not the only one who thought of it:

Does the VQ35 motor from the 350Z fit in a 300zx?

It's 271hp and I have seen it go to 300+ with some easy mods. Now, is this a new motor, or an updated version of the 3.0 on the 300zx? If it's an upgrade, I wonder how much of the eng/trans just plain bolts in?

Now that I have divulged my plan (or just my idea), what do ya think?

    Al

My wallet is screaming at me, no, no more, for the love of god NO!, but my brain says YES!

  10. Sleeping. Doing much sleeping.

Well, my son is better. gonna be here in a week for the summer.

I still don't have a Z, and probably won't until next year, when my son gets my Tacoma for getting his license and I get my 90's 300zx.

    Still in Vancouver.

    Still post sometimes.

So how is everybody on here? does anyone know who I am anymore?

    Well, besides Tim and Alex!

    Al

  12. Yea, well we got our bout with snow this year, and let me tell ya, too much of a good thing, well, IS! We got a foot, then 1" of ice on top of it. Coulnd't get out of the house for a day, and tried to get to work the other. Didn't even make it 3 blocks. My little Tacoma couldn't even get up my driveway. Broke both chains on the way to work!!!

More fun than I had planned to have!!!

A couple of inches of snow is cool, but over 6" and yer in trouble!

Got some cool pix of the ice in the trees and the sheets of ice on the roof!

  14. Hey guys!

Echoes is about to finish up our new CD, and we're running a little contest!

The title of the new CD is "The Death Of Common Sense", and we wanted to find a really cool cover for this CD, something non-corny but relevant to that title. Here's the plan:

    - We'll accept submissions either on our website's message board (http://www.echoes.ws) or by email.

    - On December 1st, 2003, we will post the 10 best on our website for everyone to vote for their favorite.

    - The winner will recieve a free set of Echoes CD's, including the new one signed by the band.

This CD is going to be sold on CDNow, Amazon, CDBaby, through our website and in some stores. Send your submissions in quick!

    Thanks!

    Al :D

  15. The first LATE series Cobra was 1993 Cobra R. They made a cheesy 1979 Cobra with a 255. But I think that was only for 79, since they dropped the 255 after '80. It was pretty much a graphics kit, looked like one they had on the King Cobras.

Sort of on the same subject - I see people doign Mustang II's all the time, why hasn't someone resto-modded one with an EFI 5.0 and some 17's or even 16's? besides the crappy motors those cars had (and everything attached to it) they were pretty solid cars, look at all the street-rodders who have stolen the parts from it! I have only once seen a II lowered on some 15's, abotu 3" off the ground, and it made the car look WAY better. But then again, any car a foot off the ground with 14's and tiny little 185's looks pretty funny to me, at least ones that are supposed to be *cough* sporty!

    Here - perfect example - http://www.mustangii.net/46l_ii.asp

  16. Hey Guys! Thanks for the replies.

Terry - have been around, just haven't had anything to contribute lately - been busy with other crazy things.

Teh Jeff Buckley show is sold out, but anyone who lives in the area, tell me how to figure out how to find stuff! Confusing! I figured out about taking the orange line from Midway to the Red Line, but finding a reasonable hotel is pathetic! Think I'm gonna just get there and look around. They want like $100 for a night!

Gonna have a few hours before we have to load in and soundcheck and stuff.....actually....

I have reservations to 2 for the show.....if anyone wants to go....already paid for....free show! My wife couldn't make it so I'm going alone. Any takers?

    Thanks

    Al

  17. Hey guys, been a bit since I've been up on here, been buys as hell.

    And on with the news!

My son is done with Chemo. He lost a bit of hair, but otherwise is doing OK. He starts Radiation Monday for 3 weeks. So after Thanksgiving it will be all over. We definately have something to give thanks for.

The Insurance carrier (who will remain nameless, although I add A-Hole to the name when I speak of them) has decided NOT to screw us, after getting a lawyer and showing them the error of their ways. Thanks for all the support you guys have shown.

    Other News:

If any of you guys are in Chicago, I'm playing the Jeff Buckley Birthday Tribute Show at Uncommon Ground Monday the 17th. Youc an check out the details here:

    http://www.uncommonground.com/buckley.htm

Looking forward to it. It's a small charity show they do in his memory every year, people from all over the world play it, and I wa lucky enough to be chosen.

    ALSO...

Doing a tour this spring from March 12-21 to go from Portland, OR to Austin, TX and back for SXSW 2004 (http://www.sxsw.com). Going to hit Boise, Salt Lake City, Denver, Tulsa, Austin, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, and hopefully San Francisco. That is going to be fun.

    And the sad news...

I have no car to work on. For now, this stuff is going to have to do....you know, priorities. Maybe after all this is over! :-D

    Thanks!

    Al
