  1. :mrgreen:Ok, time for an update!!!! Part 1: We purchaced rear IMSA quarters from Z Car Customs: http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/dt73726/pd1751866/IMSA__REAR_FENDER_FLARES_ Talked with them today. They were getting shipped as we spoke on the phone. We will start installing next week hopefully. Pics to come. Part 2: I just won an auction on ebay tonight a JTR Datsun 240Z V8 Mounting Kit, $152.50 instead of $315 new from JTR. I guess good things come to the ones who wait for a good deal on ebay! This is a brand new never used conversion kit that was purchased and never got the chance to use. Seller misplaced the speedometer cable but is still looking for it. Other than that the kit is complete. Also included in this kit is a custom Radiator Mount and GMC drive shaft adaptor. Ok, thats it for now. Will update soon.
  2. This car will be my sons if we get it. He turns 15 on 18 Sep. He will have 2 - 3 years to get this car up and running before college. Ok, here are a few questions: 1. $1000 to buy car. $1200 - $2000 for a TT engine swap from eBay JDM seller. Included in price Motor ECU Air Conditioning Transmission M/t Distributor Power Steering Pump Engine Wiring Harness (UNCUT) Intake Manifold Brackets and Sensors Alternator Cables Turbos MAF 2. Does TT engine bolt up to non TT engine mounts? 3. Once engine and trans are in car, turbos rebuilt, what will be needed? I.e. exhaust, wiring? 4. This TT engine comes with ECU. Will we need to do anything to it or just wire up and run? 5. Any more ideas of what we need to look out for? 6. Will this car be worth it in the long run? 7. What about just doing a stock JDM engine, Non TT? Save a few $$ Ok, $1000 for car $2000 for TT $2000 - $3000 for install and other misc. That’s $6000 for this car. PLUS the rights to for my son to say "Yes, I did it!" That’s it for now. I hope to get some good responses with these questions to help us with an educated decision. BTW, as for emissions crap, there are NO inspections here in eastern New Mexico. Knock on wood! And yes, we are still doing the SBC 240ZV8 IMSA widebody from http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/dt73726/pd1751866/IMSA__REAR_FENDER_FLARES_. They should be here anytime!!!
  3. Ok, I have looked on ebay and there are many The VG30DETT engines for sale. $1000 - $2000. How hard is a The VG30DE to The VG30DETT swap? I have a cherry picker, tools and a garage. Have swapped out mant v-8's, just never one of these.
  4. And where do you go to purchase a JDM engine?
  5. There is always a LSx swap!! Still doing the series I 240Z, Ordered rear IMSA widebody for it 2 weeks ago. should get it this week. What is a JDM engine?
  6. Here are some pics of the car, wheels are 17 x 7 or 8, tires are 235/45-17. Not bad for $1000. Yes there still is the engine problem:
  7. FmD, Got 2 S30's. Both no engine/trans. '73 240 and a '76 280. Both have some rust in floors. Frame rails good. Typical rust found on z's. Have clean title on 240, no title for 280. Have extra doors and fenders. Other misc parts. I'll post pics on Saturday night. Call it around $750 for both cars and parts. I am in eastern New Mexico, 802 miles from you via I-40, 12 hour drive. My son and I have a 3rd '71 series I 240 that we are putting SBC in. Need the room plus the wife is not to happy about all of the cars. lol.

    Car PC

pc $260 + 10 ship screens around $250 - $300 Here is the link to the pc on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-ITX-Carputer-Car-PC-w-D945GCLF2-M2-ATX-2Gb-RAM_W0QQitemZ200374314904QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item2ea73d6798&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 I have built many computers but this one is ready for 12volt car systems. Small and compact. As for the big screen, everyone has 7 - 10" screens. Why not go with bigger? Bigger the better when it comes to video. With the custom dash all proportions and balance can be worked out. I am guessing around $1000 for total system. Screen, PC, Amp and Speakers.

    Car PC

Ok, here is what I am thinking on doing for a project in an s30. Instead of going to an FM/AM/CD/MP3 radio I am going to do a Car PC with touch screen. The dash is out of the car already. A totally new custom dash will replace it. I am going to start with a 12" Touchscreen LCD mounted in the middle of the dash. The rest of the dash will be built from there out. Here is an example of a screen. Installed inside/under the dash will be this unit. Here are some specs: Barebones 4th Generation 1.6GHz Dual Core Car Computer Our barebones 1.6GHz Dual Core Carputer is pre assembled and packed full of hardware including our new 4th Gen aluminum Mini ITX chassis, a M2-ATX automotive grade power supply with automatic start, Intel D945GCLF2 motherboard with embedded Dual Core 8W 1.6GHz Atom 330 CPU, 2Gb DDR2 RAM at 667MHz, and exclusive internal Bluetooth. Just add your own hard drive, operating system, and DVD drive (optional) for a complete system. Ideal Features: Exclusive vibration and shock resistant hard drive mounting system (hardware included for a single 2.5" hard drive) Regulated 12v output for LCD monitor power (up to 3A) Smart 160W automotive grade DC to DC power supply features automatic startup and shutdown with adjustable timing settings, and more 7 pin S-video output for use with existing factory NAV/GPS screens (compatible with RCA to S-video adapters) VGA video output for high resolution monitors RCA audio outputs for easy audio integration Built in Bluetooth for wireless keyboards, hands free cell phone, and more (keyboard, software and microphone not included) Locking 6 pin input/output power harness (included) Built in mounting brackets for easy installation 90 Day parts and labor warranty plus 1 year parts warranty New 4th Generation Features: Redesigned air intake for enhanced airflow and increased cooling Hard drive and system LED lights RCA audio line outputs Miniature reset switch Specifications: Case Extruded Anodized Aluminum measuring 10" x 9.25" x 3.125"/254mm x 235mm x 80mm more info Processor ATOM 330 1.6GHz Dual Core 8 Watt CPU with 1Mb L2 cache 533MHz FSB Graphics Intel GMA 950 Chipsets Intel 945GC Northbridge ICH7 South bridge Audio Realtek ALC662 High Definition audio codec + Composite/RCA Line Outputs USB 6x USB 2.0 LAN 1x 10/100/1000 Mbps BIOS Intel BIOS 4mb flash memory Rear Panel I/O 2x Ps2 for mouse and keyboard 1x VGA 1x 7 pin S-Video 1x 10/100/1000 LAN 1x RS 232 COM 1x Parallel Port 6x USB 2.0 ports 3x Audio: Line in, Line out, and Mic in Composite/RCA Line Outputs Monitoring and Management Power Management (Supports S3 standby) Fan Speed Control Wake on USB Wake on PCI Wake on LAN Wake on Keyboard Wake on Mouse Memory/RAM 2Gb PC5300/667MHz more info M2-ATX Smart Power Supply: Connects directly to the battery, Voltage regulation, Automatic Start-up more info Built-in Bluetooth-Exclusive Feature Internal V1.1/1.2 Vista Compatible 50m/150' Range Works with Centrafuse 2.0 Also Included 6 pin locking power harness users guide and wiring diagram master driver disk detailed system build sheet LCD monitor power cable Compatible Operating Systems Windows XP, Ubuntu Linux, and Windows Vista (2Gb RAM suggested with the use of Vista) Operating temperature 0°C - 50°C Warranty 90 day parts and labor plus 1 year parts by mo-co-so I am adding a 1TB hard drive and wireless so I can upload music and videos from my server in my house. All movies are in .AVI (Divx) format. Lots of music and movies. Added bonus, how about a 12" GPS, just add software like MS Streets w/ gps ant. Also add maybe 3g card to get internet ANYWHERE! All thats needed after these 2 items are a standard auto power amp and speakers. What do you think? Has anyone tried this yet?
  10. A little update. I talked to the son that was driving the car. he said all that was wrong with the engine was oil leaks on valve cover gaskets. They pulled off the covers and in putting back together with new gaskets. dad thinks he put a serpintine belt on wrong or got a tooth off by 1 or so. He turned over engine and heard a noise from the engine and turned off the engine instantly. He has not looked at it since. OK, question or 2 now. What are the possible scenerios here. Bent valve(s), or something else? What would it cost (ballpark figure) to have the engine checked out and maybe valve fixed or ?? $1000 for car $500 - $1000 to fix motor? Any inputs??? Thanks
  11. :icon2: I have a friend that has a '93 300ZX for $1000. The body is in GREAT shape. There is an aftermarket full nose/airdam on the car and a rear spoiler that is about 18" above rear of car. The wheels are 17 x 8's I believe and have 2 new rear tires 235/45/17, fronts are in need of new rubber. Interior is ok. Drivers seat a few rips and everything else is appropriate for it's age. The engine has a couple of problems. I drove this car a few months ago and it drove ok. The owner said possible minor head work. I will find out more this week and post pictures. I have a couple of questions: 1. Price ok? 2. V-8 possibilities?? 3. How hard are the stock engines to work on? 4. ????? My son and I already have 2 S30's that will be getting the V8 swap. BUT, If this car could have possibilities? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Thanks for any and ALL replies.
  12. Shipping should only be around $30+/- per wheel How much for the wheels?
  13. AlwaysBroke, Just wondering. What are you doing with old wheels & Tires? What size are they?
  14. My son and I just found 4 Datsun Pickups within 5 minutes of our house with the "Datsun" tailgate at an abandoned house with tons of vehicles sitting in field. Just have to go to the county and find owner of property. Maybe we will be the owners of 4 tailgates soon. If we are, we will post a few for sale. "Datsun" cut out to save weight on shipping. More to come. Also have the leads on 3 more Z's within 30 minutes of me and 100 yards from each other. WOW, eastern New Mexico is a breading ground for hidden Z's
  15. Busy, summer fun, work. The car is in Albq!
  16. All data plate #'s match the stamped # on the firewall and title.
  17. Here is where I am getting my info from: http://www2.zhome.com:81/ Under the title: Production & Sales History/Production Figures
  18. Looking at a 240z, VIN HLS30-20388. They are calling it a '73 240. Has series I liftgate. Vents below window. From what I can deduct it's a '70. The only other problem is title is in the name of owner just before current owner. it is also an out of state title and has bill of sale also from owner $300 OBO Here are some pics.
  19. Here is a great place I found. Kind of expensive at $2500 for a set of 4 drelivered to your door. BUT, you can get almost any offset and backspace you want. I personnaly like the 18" - 3 piece modulars. http://www.usacomp.com/vn.htm
  20. Rotozips are GREAT for working on drywall and such. This is the first time I have ever heard of using one for steel. Wierd
  21. Everything I have read states it is only a 75 - 100 lb increase in weight with a SBC installed. Move the battery to the back and you end up with close to a 50/50 weight distribution.
  22. Any reason on the thread hijack?? :hijack:Please start a new thread, Mods, you agree??
  23. OK, I admit it. I looked at the pictures of the cars. Ya right. Great eye candy!! www.barespeed.com
  24. Well I see we have the comedian back! I do realize that you have that WEALTH of information from the 16 years of your life and 1 year of driving but here is the real story. 1. Danger has nothing to do with it. 2. The Suburbans front bumper does not align up with the 240Z rear bumper. Body damage WILL occure. :icon15:BTW Kinser, please if you don't have anything constructive to say or are just thinking you are being funny, don't post.
