  1. i have a turbo motor running with the haltech e6k the easy way to hook it up would be with the 83 turbo dist. only three wires needed. You would have to change out the oil pump spindle at the same time. I have used other distributors with the magnetic pick ups but you have to spot weld to many parts and its not worth the time or money.
  2. the only thing that it could be is the spindle being off . I would take the valve cover off and set the timing mark to tdc. Then take the spindle out and make sure the marks on the oil pump and it match up. When installed again you should be fine.
  3. I purchased a 18 circuit kit for my 280zx the product it's self is one of if not the best on the market mainly because of the wire used and construction. but the construction is where you will have the problem unless you get the trunk mounted version you will have a hard time finding room to mount it . If you look on the web site you'll see the square blk box. The price i paid was 230 from autozone here in tx. if you have the time and are willing to use the trunk version i would say go for it........... As you may already know the kits are mainly built in mind for domestics so you need to know your cars wiring system..........
  4. thanks for your insite. I have had the car running with the magnetic pick up but at 1440rpms she stalled, Now i'm back to the 83zxt dist and i haven't fired her up yet. In the IGnition Maps what map did you choose. These are just question so that i can see how others started. Thanks
  5. I just set the e6k up in my zx. Im using the 83zxt distributer thanks to the help of JT. I don't have the money for the dyno how would you recommend on street tuneing. Any experiences that anyone has doing this would be helpfull.
  6. hello i wanted to know if anyone is useing the magnetic pickup i have a e6k with the 77 dist. i'm also using the msd 6a The main problem that i'm having is in the advanced mode i wanted to use the semisequential but for some reason channel five( digital out two) will not pull to ground. The manual said that without a home signal it should still fire the channels in order. If any one knows what i should do please help. MY other option is to run multipoint injection.
  7. well i changed my trigger the set up with the optical wouldn't trigger anything. i double checked the wiring a few times. I instead have a 77 magnetic trigger and i have recieved the 180 rpm that you talked about now it dosen't turn on. I need to check the timing with the starter and that way i'll have my trigger point btdc. I just didn't want to do the wastspark at this time i really only want to get it going. if you have any other tips on what to do to get it to start all information is welcome
  8. on a n/a you would set up your tach adapter between the original wires blk/white(+) and the blue (Signal) the msd has four wires other then the 12v and blk ground orange and blk are the only ones that will touch the coil then you have the red and white these colors are the same as on your tach adaptor the tach adapter has split wires the red connect to the red from the msd and the b lk/white from original wiring. the blue wire (Original) connects to the white on both the msd and tach adapter The wire for you tach if original should also connect to the power side blk and white (try to run from msd first) the reason that you have the tach adaptor on the n/a"s even if you have a autometer guage is that the injectors fire from the same signal. i hope this helps and write back if you have more questions
  9. thankyou jt240z at this time i plan one using my msd 6a single coil set up. with simi sequential injection if you have a base set up map i could use it would be great. I understand that date is different but it is already programed for load. If not you have already helped more then enough. thanks again
  10. Hello I have a question for those who are running haltech e6k's or any others with usefull information. I have a 83zxt that i have put an e6k in. I'm having problems with get a pulse from the optical sensor. I have put in an 300zx chopper wheel so that i can use the nissan trigger set up but still need help. The question that i have is what wires need to be used. at the time i have the grey with red for power and the blk as ground. I have tried both the green/yellow and green/black but still no signal. The program also wants numbers for home teeth and offset tooth. If you can help with any of this or even just a base setup it would be very helpfull.
  11. hello i have a 83zxt and i am puting in a e6k at this time. I have wired everything in but i can't get a signal from the distributor. I have chose to use the original zxt with the 300zx optical wheel. From what i gather it is possible to use the nissan trigger with this setup. The question that i have is what wires are to be used and what numbers need to be typed in for the home teeth and tooth offset. If you have any information on the ignition/setup i would like all you can offer. Thanks for your time and i welcome your responce.
