  1. Great post Afshin. This will help tremendously on my upcomming conversion. The pics are a nice bonus. Sticky status is a good idea.
  2. I definitely do not want to go too big on the turbo. I still have not been able to find any T3/T4E 's with the right turbine AR. Does anyone have a good source?
  3. Well, I can definitely say I don't tolerate lag very well. I do want to get at least 250hp out of the car, and would prefer a broad power range. As far as track performance goes, getting into the mid 13's would be nice. The only Z that really flies at the Bristol Street fights runs an LS1 with nitrous and is semi pro with some sponsors. There is no way I can beat him and still have a streetable 240Z. Something in the 13's would beat my buddies who take their Z up there a couple times a year (by a couple seconds).
  4. I was also looking at his t3/t4E (see link below) but it looks like the turbine a/r on it isn't any better. I was planning on fabricating my own downpipe. I hope I don't regret it. I still need to find a good turbo if Down2turbo can get me anything I need, what specs would you recommend on a t3/t4e and how much $ is too much Sleeper? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=2459885532
  5. I am thinking of buying a turbo from a guy on ebay, he goes by "down2turbo", and I wanted to check to see if anyone here has had any experience doing business with him. If so, are his remanufactured turbos any good? He says he offers a 90 day warranty. Any other good sources for affordable(hahaha) turbos would be appreciated. 6. Thanks, that answers many questions, some I didn't even think to ask.
  7. I keep getting this message when I try to look at different pages of my search results." No topics or posts met your search criteria". I will get something like 345 results and it displays the first page of them but when I try to look at the rest of the result is when I get that message. This is really annoying, especially when I see how frustrated veterans are with newbies who don't search. Any help would be appreciated.
  8. I did find some more info in the second series of posts Sleeper referred to. Just posted today. ( I hope that quote works) from what I can tell so far it looks like a z31 N/A set up will work but not as well. yo2001 doesn't sound to sure and it doesn't look like he actually tried a N/A ECU.. Can anyone clarify this before I put in several hours following and cutting wires.
  9. I have been searching for answers to my questions and have been following the posts you recommended but they still do not provide the answers I am looking for (I even re-read them again before posting this just to be sure I didn't miss something). If someone could simply give me a yes or no on... Will the z31 na ECU and harness work just as well as the turbo versions? I would be extremely grateful. Once I have that to start with I will figure out the rest. Thanks
  10. I have search for an answer but can't seem to find what I need. I am trying to set up an L28ET with a Z31 ECU. Do I have to use a turbo ECU and wire harness? I have 280ZXT harness and lots of Z31 n/a ECUs, are they compatable? I know I will have to use a Z31 MAS instead of an AFM. I can get a Z31 n/a harness if this would be easier. The Z31 turbo ECU and harnesses are a little harder to find and since I have all these other parts I am hoping I can use to save $ for SVO 370cc injectors.
  11. The older carb intakes do bolt up to other heads. I am currently running a 240Z (n33) intake on a p79. I read somewhere that the 260 intake (n36) is bigger and is good for 10 hp. This was when using a 280 block and not 240 block.
  12. Thanks, I hadn't thought of a crank scrapper. Got any pictures of one? Can anyone narrow down my search on the ECU question? I see that it should work but I have not seen any info on specific wireing pitfalls or mods.
  13. I have a 73 240z that I plan to drop a rebuilt 280ZXT motor into. I have not sent the block out to get it cleaned and was hoping to get some input on which way to go. Is it worthwhile to lighten the crank and strengthen the bottom end? My motor has been sitting in an open shed for over 3years but looks pretty good. cylinder walls look ok, and the hone swirls are still visible. I plan to put in new rings and keep stock pistons. I know very little about fuel injection and hope I can get some answers about ECU stuff. I have lots of several 84-87 300ZX non turbo ECUs and noticed the plugs match up with the 280ZXT wire harness. Will this work and if so what modifications do I need to do? Do I need to change out the injectors? Any help or input is much appreciated.
  14. I finally remembered my password! I recently found a turbo motor with a P90A head. everything looked good until I took off the valve cover. Apparently someone had gotten to it before I did and snagged one of the Hydaulic lifters. Does anyone have a good source for replacements?
