  1. I don't have a sunroof on my Z but I do on my Altima and it was a waste of money. Something about 110 degree heat beating down on you that is no fun. From what I've heard when you cut out a hole in the roof it reduces the rigidity of the car. I've never tested it so I'm not sure how true it is. Another thought is if we are going through all the effort to stiffen up our chassis through strut bars etc. then a sunroof sets you back from that goal.

  2. Definately go with the l28 engine and fuel injection. My uncle had a 240 in Hawaii with the stock engine and I remember having to pull over and wait because of vapor lock.

I've driven cross country several times in my Z and the only time I got stranded was because of the alternator. I would make sure the starter, battery and alternator checks out. Also make sure everything is lubed up. When we got to California from Alabama my throttle kept getting stuck. I guess that was from the constant speed for hours.

  3. Since it's been 1000 degrees out here I decided to get up early on Sunday to go for a ride in the Z. I found this motorcycle website that rates driving roads: http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/SouthWest/TX/TX_3.shtml

The road was great with not a lot of traffic and plenty of curves. The outlined route was suppose to be 175 miles but I ended up going over 350 miles round trip. One word of caution, make sure you have enough gas as some of these places have NO service stations.

I didn't take any pictures as I forgot the camera and was enjoying the roads and scenery too much. Next week is 4th of July weekend so I'll see if I can't squeeze another run on Sunday and go here: http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/SouthWest/TX/TX_30.shtml

    I think I'm addicted.

  4. My mistake!!!

Mazworx seems to be the only place that still sells them

I just called them (1-407-281-1223) and the "KIT" sells for $670 shipped and comes with adapter, hardware, short shifter and shortened shifter bracket.

PS It really sucks that we can on send PM's every 30 minutes...Bad times!!!

These guys also sell an entire kit with driveshaft, shifter relocator, machining bellhousing, etc for $1500: http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/p...00ZX+TRANS+KIT

I haven't priced each individual item to see if that's a good price or not.

Or they have the adapter for $400 on their site. Bottom left.

  5. Yep, Happy Fathers Day!

I went for a ride in the Z this morning before the temps get up to 100 degrees. My 6 yo son was asleep, but normally he's the co-pilot. He already said he wants the Z when he turns 16! Yeah right.

  6. There is too much money at stake. I don't they'll split, instead they'll compromise before the season ends. IIRC the rule changes for next year, primarily the budget caps aren't going over well with the big money teams. If that list above is correct then looks like the big money teams want to keep spending into eternity and the other teams with tighter budgets are in favor of the rule changes. I'm sure they'll come to some understanding with a higher budget for 2010 than was previously announced.

Edit: Here are the responses from some of the teams: http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/6/9521.html

  7. ok. Just got done poking around the interior of the Z and I think everything is there. I turned on the AC and the blower was working and putting out a decent amount of air. Anyone know of a newer more effecient blower that I can swap in its place? So far the only thing I can tell that is missing is the compressor, condensor/fan, dryer and some hoses. Is the expansion valve located under the dash or in the engine compartment? Looks like one of the lines are also there and another connector coming out of the firewall is there as well. I took some pics below:

  8. arif... another hot one today eh ?

is this car your daily driver ?

Hell yeah its hot out here!

I drive it about 3-4 times a week taking my son to tae kwon do class and the frequent Saturday highway assault.

be prepared for some nice knuckle and hand scratches ... lol.

I'll be sure to order some knuckles before I get started. LOL

  9. 4 years! I don't feel so bad. I got my câr out of storage 2 months ago and I'm still tuning. After being in storage for 5 years I had to relearn how to tune my sds.I play with the timing and fuel curves everytime I get in it.

BTW- Scottie was right. My car feels much stronger running 40 degrees of timing past 3000rpms with no detonation.

  10. jyz77,

Can you post a pic of your compressor in the engine bay? It's been so long since I've seen a Z with AC I forgot what it's suppose to look like. :) I have a SDS system and think I might have an issue with the hall sensor mount. I basically used the compressor mounting holes for the hall sensor so I'm looking for other options.
