  1. Hey Spork, you got good eyes, haha. I had that whole right fender replaced, and the replacement fender was dented as well. At the bottom, I guess a lot of people think thats where the jack point is or something because both of my fenders were dented in the same area. BTW, where is the jack points on the 240z? Well as far as the paint job goes, im gonna ask him to repaint the hatch to get rid of blotching. Hopefully he agrees and doesnt charge anything. Putting the bumpers back on were a pain in the arse! I also had various body work all over the body, including a decent sized dent in the rear left.
  2. I got the car painted for 1350, but it was not worth what I paid. I have heard that a real paint job should cost around 4 to 5k. This is just a daily driver to me, but I still got ripped off. Too late now I guess, looks nice at night though.
  3. Nice car, I wish I had painted my car myself as you did.
  4. darn that sucks...I guess I'll have to live with crappy paint until i can afford another one. 73tpiz, I gotta check out my mirrors again to see if they go down further. they do vibrate quite a bit which can get annoying.
  5. Thanks for all the responses guys. Yeah those are Enkei 92s on 50 series tires. i am currently saving up to buy some suspension to get rid of the awful wheel gap. Any suggestions? Also, Does anybody know what I can do myself to get rid of blotchiness? Thanks
  6. 350Z silverstone metallic. paint is blotchy, not too bad though. heres the link: http://hometown.aol.com/mrredman28/myhomepage/profile.html
  7. Anybody know exactly where on the fender they should be installed? Nismoparts.com sells them with out instructions. or mounting hardware. If you guys know what I need to buy to install these mirrors(like what size screws and drill bit) let me know thanks. Pics would be nice as well
  8. Ive heard of replicas being sold. Anybody know where I can get one or is anybody here selling one? Thanks
  9. Thanks man for the info. yeah I thought it was pretty weird. My tach doesnt work either so maybe its a electrical thing.
  10. I have a 73 240, with a 71 l24 and what are the symptoms of a z car overheating? My temp gauge goes up to H really quick sometimes and other times it doesnt. Its kind of weird because I could be driving for really long with the needle up near the H. Then I goto the store for lke 5 min and when I drive home the needle would be at the halfway mark the whole ride home. Im thinking maybe the thermostat is not opening? When I turn the heater on to help cool down the car, it doesnt do anything to help. Have any of you guys had this problem? Where is the thermostat located btw? THanks
  11. I would do it myself if I was more skillful like a lot the guys on this board. The only motor swap Ive done myself is a honda swap, but I didnt do the wiring. That would also be my concern with the l28et, the wiring.
  12. Hi I am having a problem with the screws that came with the headlight covers I bought from MSA. they seem to be too short. Do I have the wrong screws? or is there a trick to getting them to work? Anybody else run into problems? Thanks
  13. Anybody have a rough idea of how much it would cost to get one running in a 240z? What shops in northern cali can do this or have done this? if you guys have phone numbers that would be helpful. thanks
  14. mnn I posted on a couple other z forums and one guy told me that I dont need my car stripped of all its paint to get good paint adhesion. He said its a complete fantasy that you can get a better paint job by going to bare metal. He said the only bare metal sanding I need to do is where rust and body work is needed. What do you reccomend me doing? I planned on using the paint stripper then sanding and possibly primering the car myself and let the body shop paint the car. Should I do that or just let the body shop do a mild sanding and cleaning of the surface then painting over it? Also, should I strip all the undercoating off before I have the shop apply a new coat? Thanks
  15. Hi guys I have decided to strip, sand, and primer my 240z myself. The question I have is would you guys reccomend sanding all the paint off by hand, or remove it with a paint remover from a can and then sand the rest down? I bought a bottle of this paint remover that bubbles the paint instantly and the paint comes right off. I used it on a spare fender and it saved me a lot of time. Anybody have experience with this type of stuff? does it damage the metal at all? after the paint is off what grit of sand paper should I use to prep the surface for primer? What primer should I use? Thanks
