Im trying to fit some seats from a 91 honda civic into my 78 280z. I started with the passenger side and adapted the datsun rails to the honda seat and it fit in there like a dream, but on the drivers side theres a big ol bulge getting in the way. i want to cut the bulge out of the tunnel and weld it flat like the passenger side. it looks like there will still be enough room for the exhaust to travel through the tunnel even with it being narrowed a bit. has anyone done this to their z?

im currently working on a 78z w/350 sbc. I might be moving to california here shortly and understand the emissions exemption is now capped at 1975. Now im already into the project and dont really want to buy a pre 75 z car to start all over again. Now if i bought an earlier 75 or older junked/wrecked z car could i just swap in the dash so when they check the vin number it comes up as emissions exempt. OR.... what exactly legally constitutes the year of the car? If i welded in parts of the chassis/suspension/etc. from an earlier z car wouldn't it technically be in part the older car somewhat.

I've been finding quite a bit of info on here regarding the ls1 conversion. Is there a conversion manual or some such thing just for the ls1. Only reason i ask is i want to make absolutely sure i cover all my bases before diving into a project like this. I would rather avoid any unnexpected surprises.

Somewhere on this board i remember someone saying JTR was coming out with their own ls1 conversion. Anyone have any info on this

i was also looking into the gen III 6.0l, looks like a nice crate engine for less price than the ls1. Claims to only be like 65lbs heavier than an ls1 which still makes it a pretty light engine. it doesn't look like it comes with any of the electronics, how much would you guys estimate it would cost to aquire the electronics to get this thing running??
