Hi every one, I'm thinking of swap my L28e tranny out of 83 280zx with z31 once. After i've done researching on net. There was no thread about swapping on 280zx. The big thing to concern about is the drive shaft. People were talking about 77z but no dimension about drive shaft for 83z. If you know where can i find the exact size for drive shaft for 280zx. Please help by provide more info of it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kevin,

I used grinder with twisted wheel brush. Took me 5 hours to make it looks clean.

Hello everyone, I have a Red 83 280zx N/A. My goal is: -Engine swap with L28ET -Stroke her to 3.0 -Custom Body work -Put her to paint shop make-up her a new look (any color idea?) -Take a good care of her and not put it to race It's been 2 months that i've been collecting all the parts for my L28T engine swap. Now i'm ready to roll. Crank shaft and head is on the way back from the shop in a few weeks. I've just barely started the paint job for my valve cover and the block. This is my first 10 hours of work that i've done in the backyard. May be I hate to see rusty sitting around my block. That's why i spent most of the time to have it finish nicely. Check it out below and give me your idea what do you think? I will update more info later when i got all the parts back from the shop. Hi everyone, I'll be finishing my L28 stroke in a month or so. My next step is i'm looking to get my body works processed. Which will make my own custom body kits for my 280zx. I'm not sure if there is any kind of services that willing to handle that? I'm in OC So Cal. Another way is that I'm thinking of get it done by my self because i have a budget. Can anyone let me know where i can get all the fiber glass materials to work with the bodykits? Any suggestions on how to make it? Should i do it by myself or have some one to do it and just pay them? Thanks for all the help in advance.

Thanks for everyone's replied. I got my turbo engine. Now i'm working on it. My second step will be shocks and rims. What dimension should i get?? p225/60/R16 should it fit???

240Zed: Thanks for the nice photo. That's what i'm looking for. Where did you get that pic from? sweetleaf & Young Z: Thanks for all the suggestions. If i will spending $20K. I would take that $$$$ to down for a Mercedes or IS350. So, i don't have to worry about finding parts and spend times to put it together. ) By the way, do you guys think should i put a L28ET in or resell it as it is? I love the body of my Z because i can't find any rust on it. The frame chassis just great (was owned by an old lady and i think she dead). Interior is awsome. Thanks again guys....

David, That bumper from ZFP making the car looks longer (front to rear looking). As i'm short i would need to make mine look shorter. I'm not blame you or anyone but, i personally don't like that one. Thanks anyway.

Do you think 5K will be enough for putting the RB26dett in including labor? 1K for body kits and 1K for painting? That's my budget. Hopefully will find someone soon. Thanks everyone.

Challenger:: The reason i wanna swap the engine because i want more horsepwr. I won't put it to race but i might put it to show (not sure). Yes, i will spend for the cost of doing the work. Do you know any one in OC? Thanks for links everyone!

Hi everyone, I've just recently bought my first 280zx for my project. First, I'm looking for a nice body style for my project. Second, I would need dimension size for RIMs that best fits to it. Third, will be an engine. I'm thinking of putting a GTO RB26DETT in but first need to find someone know how to do it. I'm not that good of swapping the engine and on the other hand i don't even have enough tools to working on it. Any suggestions or ideas? I'm in OC, Calif. Any referral or hooked up will be appreciated. Kevin,
