Here are some more photos of the motor. I'm not totally sure what its out of. Maybe someone can help? This is the underside of the intake with the accvalve, air regulator and water pipe. I had to open up the holes out on the water pipe a bit. Now everything fits nicely. Here you can see a coolant line that needed to be plugged. (near the thermostat) Frame rails rear sub frame connection

Yes its an Rb25det. I got it from a guy that was going to put it in his 240sx. He replaced the watterpump, timing belt, idler, and tensioner. Everything looks to be in good shape. The intake is a gredy knock off. The trans is from an rb20 and it has a b&m short shifter. The frame rails are just about done. We decided to cut out the trunk to mount a fuel cell and battery box.

Ok. that's legit . So what are the differences between the rb20 and other rb's? In the r33 fsm the rb20 is normally explained along with the rb25. This leads me to believe they are very similar. -

I don't think this statement is totally true. The sr20 is lighter but can it really make more power? -
that is the same as my spare

There are a few threads on this froum on how to build the rotisserie. We are planing on putting the stock diff (r160?) and universals back in and just run it till it breaks. Than most likely an r200/cv setup will be swapped in. we have been getting some things done. cell phone pics

Update: Went home this weekend and finished up the rotisserie. Putting the car on was a bit of a trick but we got it with 3 guys. Wouldn't want to do it alone. Amazingly the car didn't fall on the ground. Success fells good. I ran out of time to take good phots but i did snap some on my cell.

Yeah it gives me nightmares to. I think im gonna get a lot of the body work started and let a professional finish it up. Your build looks nice. Cant wait to see it progress. UPDATE- Before i could start working I needed to clean the shop. I hate working in a mess. Before: After: Now it was time to do work. Started with fixing some holes Drivers side:Its not totally done. The triangle in the right corner needs to be filled and it needs some more grinding. I think it came out ok for our first time doing body work and it will be covered by the fender. Passengers Side: This side was not as bad. The patch was much easier the 2nd time. Next up was some undercoating removal. Started using a propane torch and stiff putty knife for this. It works much better than a heat gun. After the thick stuff is removed it cleans up nicely with a wire wheel and some lacquer thinner. Soon got tired of that so i decided to see what was behind the bondo on the driver side quarter. The bondo was about a 1/4-1/2 in thick in the worst parts. It looks like the quarter rusted so they pushed it back and tacked this up. The inner More cover up lol Thought i would check the other side This was just covered up And the inner Filled some holes Some things i wana sell: L24, E88 head, 66,000 miles when pulled, old style su's, I have the 5speed someone could use this I have a full factory ac system including the manual

I was home for the weekend so small update. I made some more holes to weld up and of course found some more rust.

I'm planing on swapping the motor in with an auto trans. I think it has less of a chance of being beat this way. I'm in Lansdale pa its about 45min outside of Philly. I was home for the weekend so small update. I made some more holes to weld up and of course found some more rust.

My goals for now are to make around 350hp of reliable street power. This wont be a dally driver but it will be driven often. The budget is about 10 grand but we all know how that goes. As for welding skills I have some and my best friend is going to school to be a welder so I got that covered. I’m planning on using the beta motorsports 2nd cross member and fabing my own trans crossmember. I’m also planning on a set of bad dog frame rails. Trying to find a motor has been causing some problems. I’m nervous about just ordering a motor online without any idea about its history. Has anyone tried any of these sites?

So let me start by introducing myself. My name is Neil and im a collage student from Pennsylvania. This is the first project I have ever attempted like this. I was looking for a project car for my father and I to work on and the 240z fit the bill perfect. The old man wanted to do an old Camero or Mustang but me being cooler than that wanted to do something JDM. I came across the 240 when looking for old school jdm cars. My dad liked the fact that it was old and thus easer to work on. He also liked the rear wheel drive and sexy Americanish lines. After a few months of looking for the right car we finally found a winner. It was a 72’ 240z. This is the car on the day we picked it up Everything looked good and we thought we had a "rust free" car. After a few weeks driving it around town it was time to get to work We wont be needing that The bay after the motor was pulled It was dirty Some rust Some more more rust The car as it sits now Im gona start needing help. thanks in advance
