  1. Well, you're absolutely right about that. Too bad I have an N47 and N42... Ill have to check the blocks, though. Im doing everything I can to finance a V8 or preferably an LS engine into my 74, and i thought that this might help, but I guess it'll only help a little bit. Thanks RP
  2. im not selling, but I want to know what I could expect to receive for selling a (somewhat tattered) L28? I have 3 L28 ENGINES laying around, one in good shape, 2 in disrepair. What Could I expect to get for the 2 bad ones? (by disrepair i mean that they have been sitting for 15+ years and may or may not have a crapload of problems). Assuming that the engines were working when they were parked, I can't imagine anything surviving for 15 years in Lake Elsinore, CA, unprotected . Anyway, thanx in advance.
  3. for the love of god. this is no something you do an S30. If this is your kind of thing for a car, then good for you, but imo, you need to at least respect the car and its heritage, not rice it into the ground.
  4. wait...thats all it is? An E31 head? I guess that would make sense considering it has an E31 in the name. I noticed that but I didn't think that it could be that simple.
  5. I know that the 11041-E3100 was an early model Z head, but there is so little info about it, I can only find any mention of it in vague references on Z forums. What was so special about this head?
  6. This something might make you go one route over the other simply because someone already made the complete retard's guide to dropping in a 1jz/2jz. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127163 Just thought that you might want to know what to do before you pick an engine.... and I would go with the 2JZ. just because I have seen those engine crank out anywhere from 500-800hp, but more important than that, they are usually able to maintain good torque ratings. 700+ horses are great, but if that same engine has only 550+ ft/lbs torque, it will be a high-strung, stressed, temperamental engine. horsepower= work done over time torque= ability to rotate an object (wheels, in this case) just my 2 cents.

Is this the same car on Arizona Z Car.com?
  8. I really have to say, I am in almost the same exact position as you are. I have done extensive research and seen all sides of the debate, and the conclusion I drew was this: There are so many people who swear by each and every one of these setups, so it must mean that they all can do their job just as good as the next one, provided you know what you are doing. THAT BEING SAID, there is one bit of info that might help. I was talking to the guys at Motorsport Auto, and several of them couldn't decide between the SU's or the 4 barrel, however, there was one constant theme: the 4barrel is much simpler and easier to maintain, and the 4barrel will enhance the effects of all future upgrades to the engine. The deciding factor was when I finally figured out that modern technology and simplicity is more important than saving a few bucks. Not to mention any speed shop can work on an Edlebrock or Holley, whereas you need a specialty shop for the SU's.
  9. I have been shopping around for a V8 conversion for a 260z and here is what I have come up with: The 350: http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/fbshopmain2.asp?hid=026DK73488&trk=12&utm_source=SC&utm_medium=IMG&utm_campaign=350 The Tranny (Level 1 stock): http://www.transmissioncenter.net/350_or_400_high_performance.htm#350%20Level%201 Carb: http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/fbshopmain2.asp?hid=026DK73488&trk=12&utm_source=SC&utm_medium=IMG&utm_campaign=350 Now what I need to know is if this will cover the conversion, or will a new suspension and rear end be necessary?
  10. I have been wanting for some time now to throw into my '74 260z a 350ci or 392ci V8, however I've had this thought that has kept me from doing so... Is it true that the added weight of a V8 up front of this relatively lightweight car will make it turn like a brick? It seems like even with a very stiff front suspension, the inertial forces exerted on the car from an autocross track will be too extreme and the car will not be nimble enough to compete with those 911's. Is this just a phantom fear or should I upgrade my current L28 as much as possible to get around this weight (and potential $$$$) problem?
