  1. pm sent and remember the kit is brand new, so I'm not wanting to lose much money on selling it!
  2. I'm doing the chevy 4.8/5.3L vortec swap into my 86 z31 with turbo of course has s13/q45/z32tt hybrid rear end set up Cage fuel cell and a few more goodies I will start a build thread here shortly on it once I get my new 83 280zx DD squared away!
  3. well to be honest, this car is probably going to be going bye bye due to the massive amounts of rust! I will basically just be throwing the whole engine setup in my z31, which has no rust and a lot of suspension work and needs a better power plant! Plus today I'm supposed to be picking up a 83 280zx as my new DD, that's in mint condition! So now I will just have this JCI mount kit for sale!
  4. Ok so I finally got my JCI mount kit after a month of waiting, My only question is, what mount are you supposed to use for the drivers side of the engine? plus I have gotten rid of that big hunking turbo and decided that I'm going to try something a little smaller for now and upgrade later. Another thing is my car has a good amount of rust, but as of now I'm going through and fixing all that, because around here it's not very often that I stubble upon a 240z for so cheap, and I'm not going to scrap it in fear of not finding another one!
  5. Just purchased my JCI mounts today so hopefully they will be here in the next week so I can get started on the hotside for this POS!
  6. I know this maybe a long shot, but I just wanted to see if anyone that was parting out a 2 seater 240z, would be willing to cut out these two areas for me. Pics: Thanks guys, Cam
  7. +1 I followed his whole build on LS1tech, that car is awesome!
  8. Well I'm just gonna give it a shot, but I think I maybe able to squeeze one in there as I'm building tubular k-member for the car, might not work but I can only really tell once I get the engine, tranny, and starter in there once the new k- member is finished.
  9. you think if I mount it up front like you or colt, that I will be able to squeeze a 4" exhaust in there some how? I have been contemplating that idea too, I was going to test fit it in that area the other day, but the fan was in the way! and thanks, I have gained a lot of knowledge from your build and I have you site as a quick reference to help me get ideas
  10. I was thinking about it, I am going to try and make it fit under there, but if I see I'm not going to be able to do it, a hole will be cut!
  11. Hello guys my name is Cameron, I've been a member on here for a little while now and rarely post up, as I mainly just used the site to do research for the build up of my car. So I figured I would start a build thread as I am making a little bit of progress on the car now! My goal with the car is to basically build a pretty quick street car and a weekend drag car! Basic Plans are: Your typical JY 5.3L Borg Warner s475 83mm turbo 50mm Wastegate 50mm BOV th400 tranny QuickSpool Valve Decent size cam Megasquirt EFI yada yada yada.......lists goes on here are a few pics! Car when I got it, yes it does need rust repair, but it cost me $500 Now with the mock up of the engine and the turbo, note the engine has to be moved down about 1"-1.5" and back about 1"-1.5", Turbo needs to be moved down about the same as the engine. I chose this placement for the turbo because I want to keep the front of the bay uncluttered. Also I will be modifying a bunch of stuff to make the turbo fit better in that area and try and make it all fit under the hood and cram a 4" downpipe and exhaust all the way to the back! Might be a long shot but I'm going to try! Oh yea and don't worry about mechanical fan as that will be removed! More to come soon!
  12. so what is the best for the LS in the s30? f-body?
  13. lol you seem to be the only one still following through with this project....I got a good deal on a 73 240z and decided to through my turbo LSx swap into it instead....well actually to be honest I'm still debating whether to fix the 240z and us it as my DD and swap this engine and set up in my Z31 instead, I will decide soon as I get the 240z to my house!
  14. Yes it was epic, now here are the pics!
  15. sweet man thanks for that info, and I think I have chose which oil pan set up I will be going with......what does it cost? and does it come with windage tray and pick up tube? where to buy it?
  16. wow it seems to fit in there pretty great, I will have to get some pics of mine too, doing the same swap but into a 86 300zx, basically if you guys have heard of a Forum meber by the name of 1sickZ, I bought his chassis to do this swap into. Should be fun to DD and race everyday!
  17. Could you possibly snap some pics of the oil pan while it is mounted in the car? also what oil pan are you using? Only parts I need now to get started are a tranny and oil pan, got everything else!
  18. yea same here with the boosting down the rod thats why I went with the 5.3L LM7, also I have not decided on the tranny yet either a nv3500 5 speed or a t-56, im leaning towards this option. Plus I think I might either chop the oil pan about 2 inches or get an f-body one. I too will keep you guys updated with progress.
  19. sweet man, nice progress, now this makes 2 of us doing a LSX swap into a 80's Z31. But I'm doing a 5.3L LM7 engine instead and its going into a 86 z31.
