i believe that once a wear pattern is on the tire it is there for the life of the tire.

i have a basically stock 1980 280ZX with a 5speed.
what tranny is it exactly that i have? the T-5?
and what does it take to custom make a short shifter for this tranny? can the stick simply be cut and shortened and then welded up?
-
thanks neil. ill have it in the air tommorrow and ill look to see if there are bleeder screws elsewhere.
-
hmmm. if i dont get anymore responses ill pull the MC again and find out.
-
we replaced the master cylinder with a brand new one and it built up pressure with the engine off.
but when driving the pedal goes down almost to the floor before it starts to work.
any ideas what it may be now? we bled the new MC, all four calipers, and its brand new dot 3 fluid. goodridge ss lines up front. axxis pads front and rear, brand new rotors.
-
working on installing new pads, rotors, and SS lines.
went to bleed, air kept coming out for awhile and then with constant pedal pressure it would go all the way to the floor everytime. the fluid level in the MC wouldn't drop (this is with all bleeder screws CLOSED).
is my MC bad?

yes i realize there is already a topic about this.
im curious though what it takes to make your own strut bars for the front and rear on a 1980 280ZX?

whats the cost?
i can probably buy next week.

You are probably better off changing your oil yourself. If you think about it' date=' there is probably a reason these guys are changing oil and not doing the more complicated work on cars.

I used to work at a place similar to Jiffy Lube, but we were rated #1 in the county. I was 16 at the time.
I was one of those guys. I left there because now I DO do the more complicated work on cars. I'm a service tech at the Chrysler dealer here. I will be 18 at the end of the week.
Not all "these guys" make mistakes like that. Please don't generalize.
As for your question, just go back and have the guys drain a little out if your that worried, and if they drain out too much have them put more in until it's at the FULL line at their cost.
Next time change it yourself and save the hassle and money. It's worth the mental insurance.

props austin
thats how i want my engine bay to look one day.
im about to turn 18, had my 80 280zx since september.
curious, what kinda work and hours do you do to afford that and go to high school?
and hit me up on AIM if possible: BurnHighwaysDown

ive been intrigued by the thought of swapping in a 350sbc into my 80 280zx for awhile now, but most guys here with the swap or like swaps talk 1/4mile times.
im not into drag racing as much as i am autox and road racing. if i were to swap a 350sbc in, what kind of affects would it do to my handling? i would most likely already have a kyb or tokico strut/eibach spring combo on all four corners.
would autox and road racing still be feasible with the new engine? or should i stick to my current plan of a built L28ET engine?

The differential on my '80ZX is in dire need of replacement. Problem is, I'm not sure which diff I have. I THINK it's the R180, but I cannot be sure.
Will an R200 differential fit easily, and if not what kind of modification/fabrication do I need to do?
And what about the U-Joint halfshaft to CV shaft swap? What is required for that?
Just in case its important in this, it is a 5speed tranny.

Thanks. I was under the impression that mine had a T5.
