  1. yeah spot...too many irons in the fire and the Z doesn't get the attention it should. I prefer to price a vehicle fair and sell it for that rather than fish for that one high bid or haggle price.
  2. ha ha....I don't think I can see yours any better I've got a new camera so I will snap a shot after while and take a measurement too.. thanks
  3. thanks guys...this should send me in the right direction.
  4. Is it hard to determine the correct pad for the Toyota calipers??? I am about due and not sure what to ask for at the local parts house? thanks again..
  5. long time to those who may remember me...board looks great! These are hard to find...odd size hole. I am now missing one and last time I looked all day to find the set I have now. ALSO I would LOVE to buy a couple more of these rims!!! thanks

I was gonna remark that we need to get the "Texas HybridZ Matchrace" between you and IFASTZ (from San Antonio right?)...

  8. I used a brass "bleeder style" valve from the hardware store. The type that uses a needle and seat. On my 11 second Buick Turbo 6 it worked great. If I really wanted to scare my passengers I could disconnect the "exhaust" side of the valve and this ominous "whoooshing" sound would fill the car under boost Tip: keep the vacuum line i.d. as small as possible. I have less torque than than that and run the squeeze. I launch very hard though and usually hit the button right out of the hole or as soon as the car reacts and plants the tires. I hit high 1.6 60 ft. times which is pretty brutal. In all i have broke one half-shaft in a years racing. I really feel like it was my fault for not servicing the U-joints as they were dry which gave them some slop.
  10. ok...here's a pic of me and my best friend! http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/bornabov/vwp?.dir=/My+Family&.src=ph&.dnm=bush_chaney.jpg_1.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/bornabov/lst%3f%26.dir=/My%2bFamily%26.src=ph% 26.view=t
  11. Hey 1fstZ...I don't lurk this forum much but I'm glad i did tonight, another TX Z! And a very fast one!!! Jason from up here in Dallas has hit the 9's this year with the IRS. He has converted his over to coil-overs and can now get more rubber on it. Also, he uses a stiff spring rate to help keep from squatting so bad. A bud of mine (Fisher Racing) did a nice cage for him and built some custom half-shaft loops for safety. I don't think he's in a hurry to do another though...kinda tight working conditions for a big guy Jason reports that after (X) amount of runs (I forget the number he gave) that the rearend starts to howl bad as the pin you mentioned starts to fail...then he swaps another third member in. I want to see a match race with you two!!! We need to do a TX Z gathering next spring at a track man...I'll be there. Next season when we start the Ultimate Street Nights up again at the Motorplex would be fun. I do the announcing... I used to street race...still miss it but I think I'll pass. BTW, the quickest car at our last street night at the 'Plex bit the wall after breaking some link or mount or? on his rear end and cutting a slick. He was in excess of 125+mph. He was one of the few(!) cars that were actually NHRA legal for those speeds. Bruised but OK. I can probably get you in touch with Jason if I scrounge for his number... TX HybridZ's UNITE!!!
  12. I really like my 700R4...especially the overdrive! I have owned and raced my car for one year now. I always drive on drag radials so the tranny gets some abuse. Low ET to date is a 11.71 hitting the nitrous as soon as the car reacts off the starting line. I have run a string of 1.67 to 1.70 60 ft. times recently. I guesstimate about 400 horse with the 100 shot of nitrous. The trans was fresh when i bought it and I am using a stock torque convertor. Driving on the freeway is great with the OD, 3.55's and 26" tall tires (235/60/15's). I have friends with non OD cars...they are not fun anymore if you drive em' much.

Kevin, (Yea,Still an Inliner) Kevin...not to worry, I called the promoters and I am in! One prob though (possibly). They are going to allow Mustangs in as domestic compacts??? I could have my hands full with those Vortech 5.0's...hopefully they'll have traction probs (or stay home BTW, the race is this Saturday...! I'll post to Motorsports...

  15. yeah thanks again Knight...! BTW, that weight (2875 for the 280Z) seems high as my car only weighs 2720 with the V8. I have lost the bumpers though and have Enkei's all around but still???
  16. Thanks! BTW, from what I understand the intent of the OEM trans rule is to weed out purpose built aftermarket trannys... I hope I can run this event and class *this Saturday!). thanks again,
  17. Hey all, I am entering a race this weekend and they state that the car must weigh " within 150lb's of the OEM weight listed on vehicle".... Hmm, the only weight listed on the vehicle is the GVRW. I am looking for some documentation that I can print and carry with me in case they dispute me. They might not enjoy it if I do real well against the predominant Imports...then again they might like it (BTW, My car weighs 2720 w/o driver) 76' 280Z. FYI Drag Wars 2 Ultimate Street Car Challenge Quick 16 Rules: This class is designed for the street racer. NO SLICKS are permitted and no more than one power adder, your full interior must remain... BODY - Full stock import or compact domestic car or truck body INTERIOR - full interior CHASSIS & SUSPENSION - Full stock suspension is required. OEM transmission and rear end must be used. (hmm...this may be a tough one???) EXHAUST - Any type of exhaust system permitted (I would have hoped for mufflers??) TIRES - All entries must run DOT approved street RADIALS, Drag radials are permitted. NO SLICKS OR SLICK TYPE TIRES PERMITTED. WEIGHTS - Car must weigh within 150 lbs. of OEM weight listed on vehicle.
  18. Jerry...what are you planning on doing??? As I mentioned I've owned a Turbo 6 before AND have built a de-stroked 400 (377). My 377 was the strongest engine I've ever done!!! It was a 12.5 to 1 engine with hogged Bowtie heads. It ran 10.80's w/o(!) nitrous through the muffs in a 75' Vega Wagon (pics on my website). Then I put it in a back halved 66' Chevy II and went 10.50@127mph. The turbo motor we built went 11.20@123 for the next owner as i broke too many parts on my TR and sold it after dropping the engine in... Are you doing a swap into your Z or another?? Heck, my Limited went 11.77@109mph with the stock IC, DP and injectors!!! I used a 50 shot of nitrous to acheive that... Later, and good to meet you Friday night. See ya' on the 31st.
  19. Hey Miles....I can only comment on the Saginaw trans. I had one in a V8 Vega years ago and it held up well. While obviously it doesn't have the reputation as other standards I found it to work well as it has a very steep first gear. I never broke it and the car went 11's with nitrous.
  20. There is a sleeper Fairmont that goes to the Motorplex that uses two "Turbo Coupe" turbo's through a carb and runs effortless mid 10's!
  21. Only Andrew would put nitrous on a 2.8L Cavelier...

We never got the car over about 20mph! > ya' gotta let the tires plant FIRST!!! > Keep the NOS advice coming guys, I'm all ars. I'd also be VERY interested to learn how to best hide it in a Z install. I'm thinking LONG lines to remotely mounted solenoids and maybe some heater hoses. I don't mind a softer hit from the gas rather than liquid NOS and I could always prime it if I wanted... There's a couple of good books out there on this stuff BTW guys, not sure where my copy is though (grr). > I've never done the full on hidden system but...I have hidden bottles in a hulled out drink cooler Also, i have used a second "hidden" bottle so i could "unhook" my big bottle for a money race. (don't try this at home kiddie's). Now...I just mount it where i can open the bottle Heh, I need NOS, no TWO bottles! > BWAHAHAHAHA.....
