    which rear end?

thanks guys...I want to be able to track race once or twice a month anyway. Have fun! RickB 280V8
  2. Great reply Scottie, BTW...I've played with a GN engine for the past couple of years. From what i understand then the 280 already has a R200 though obviously no posi. So I will need solid U's, ZX turbo CV's and adaptor huh...hopefully i can get some help from a local GN/Z-car guy i think you are familiar with (Greg K from the Dallas/Arlington area). In the mean time I'll be reading and absorbing as well. RickB 280V8 [This message has been edited by RickB (edited October 26, 2000).]
  3. I went the cheapo route and slapped a set of Nitto Extreme Drag Radials (205-55-15's) on the small 14" mags on my Z. I am very impressed with their performance! I can flat out wood the loud pedal from a stoplight BTW, my ride calculates right at 300 horse and is lowered like you had mentioned of yours. I went five rounds at the dragstrip the other week with these tires until a rain out in the semi finals. I ran two in a row dead on dial in's leaving off idle and floorboarding it. I'll know soon how well the tires work when i try out a 100 shot of juice as soon as the streets are dry and i have a little time RickB 76 280V8
  4. Thanks Fast...I will do that and if i have to I'll fat finger the bulb. RickB
  5. Yep, I tried the emergency brake switch right away. Nope... The brakes are good, could be that whoever originally did the swap unplugged or failed to plug in something? I'll trace some of the wiring. It's just sort of annoying at night when prowling ------------------ RickB 280V8 350/700R4 12.77 w/radials & pump gas so far... http://photos.yahoo.com/bornabov
  6. Thanks BLKMGK... Actually i thought i had deleted this post as i put it in the wrong forum. BTW, where can i buy the joints you quoted? Any decent parts store or?? ------------------ RickB 280V8 350/700R4 12.77 w/radials & pump gas so far... http://photos.yahoo.com/bornabov
  7. Hey All, I just recently bought a 76 280V8 and the brake light stays on in the speedometer pod. Can anyone tell me of a simple way to unplug it or clear it? It looks tight up in there and maybe I just need to pull the bulb or?? Sorry for the simple question...I've figured out quite a few others so far. Having fun again! ------------------ RickB 280V8 350/700R4 12.77 w/radials & pump gas so far... http://photos.yahoo.com/bornabov
  8. Hey Folks, I am new to the Z cars in general as i haven't had one since 1980... I have a 76 280V8 that I need a couple of things for and thought ya'll could point me in the right direction. 1) I need a passenger door handle and rod along with the lock cylinder. (I can buy the parts from a Nissan dealer for 120$) Maybe that's the simplest route? 2) Also, the factory passenger side mirror is all wobbly and would like to replace it as well. 3) Last (yeah right..) I would like a set of floormats that fit, not the AutoZone/Pep Boys specials. Thanks in advance, ------------------ RickB 280V8 350/700R4 12.77 w/radials & pump gas so far... http://photos.yahoo.com/bornabov [This message has been edited by RickB (edited October 25, 2000).]
  9. Hey All, I am new to this particular swap and would like to identify the rear end AND the gear ratio in my 76 280. I take it that the stock rear for this car is a R180? From what I've read obviously the best choice is the R200 and I may be interested in that route (got one for sale?). I am primarily interested in straight line acceleration, i.e. drag racing..though i like the way this car handles so I'd rather not go with a solid axle. How about upgrades to the stock rear end (assuming that's what is in it?). Spicer U-joints or? thanks in advance... ------------------ RickB 280V8 350/700R4 12.77 w/radials & pump gas so far... http://photos.yahoo.com/bornabov Dallas, TX [This message has been edited by RickB (edited October 25, 2000).]
