Rides? Did I hear somebody mention rides?

Very nice Ron. You need to buy another s30 so you will have a place to put the M3 engine. I know somebody who could use the M3 suspension from your new parts car. Brian

Happy Birthday to Ron Tyler, @ 105 years old?.. Wait a tick!...
BrianV8Z replied to BRAAP's topic in Non Tech Board
Hey Ron, Happy Birthday. My wife's birthday is today also, although she is only 40. Watch out for Paul and his spider shooting. His aim looks deadly. Brian -
I plan on being there Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Hope for dry weather! Brian

Hey, Kim are you going to be at the Canby show this year? I remember talking to you last year. Brian

Pics with new suspension, wheels and tires
BrianV8Z replied to BrianV8Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks, It will be a dark blue. Something dark but not confused with black. I cut the section out of the strut tubes myself, but Ron welded them for me. Brian -
I have the 80ZX booster on my 280Z. It is larger than the stock 280 booster so I think you would have clearance problems if you have a 4 or 5 speed. Brian

The part number I have from my notes is 1120A33. I searched on it and found a further discussion. Brian........

What will fit under a stock hood?
BrianV8Z replied to HarrisonTX's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I have an RPM air gap intake, a 1 inch carb spacer, and a 3 inch drop base air cleaner. It all fits under the stock hood. Brian.......... -
B&M Shift Improver Kit may not be a good idea in a Z

Thanks, Dave That's the one I was referring to. I hope to get one and install it within a month. I'll let everyone know how it works. Brian -
B&M Shift Improver Kit may not be a good idea in a Z
BrianV8Z replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I have the same problem with my 700r4. The shift from 1st to 2nd is way to strong for regular driving. Bowtie Overdrives has a TV cable kit with an adjustable cam on the carb linkage. It is designed to lower the pump pressure during part throttle shifts while maintaining the firm full throttle shifts. I haven't ordered this yet but it sounds good. Brian -
Most of the information I have found shows the 76 auto cars as having R180s. My 76 had an auto trans and an R200. There is no way to tell if it was changed by a previous owner. The best way tell if you have the R180 or R200 is to find a picture of each diff and crawl under and take a look. Hope this helps. Brian..........

MM Vented Front Brake Package
BrianV8Z replied to Bartman's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I have the typical 4x4 kit from Ross with 14 inch factory wheels from a 77 Z. I was hoping to get by without any spacers so I ground down the ribs on the calibers a little bit but I still needed more room. Ross make 1/8 inch spacers for me and that took care of it. Brakes work great! Brian.......... -
MM Vented Front Brake Package
BrianV8Z replied to Bartman's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Looks good. I had to change the position of the brake line elbow that comes out of the caliper so the steel braided line would not rub on the tire at full lock. Brian -
Thanks for all the good words guys. I fixed the transmission cooler line leak. Just a loose fitting on the transmission. The car is drivable now, but the brakes are really bad. I got my brake kit from Ross yesterday. It's the 4x4 toyota setup. Should get it installed in the next week. My alternator is an 80 amp Denso from a mid to late 90s Camry. A local auto shop that a friend of mine owns got the mount and made some aluminum spacers for the pulleys to align the belt. Pete, I learned how to wire relays from reading some of your posts and your web site. Now I put them everywhere. Maybe I'm a geek too. I'll give the hood a try. Thanks Brian

I have hooker block hugger headers into 2.5 inch pipes that Y together behind the transmission mount and go into a Dynomax super turbo. When I get some time, I'll put together a web page with a bunch of pictures. Yes it is an AIRGAP and I have a 1 inch spacer under the carb. The spacer helped with clearance around the fuel log and heater hoses. There is about 3/4 of an inch between the hood and the outer edge of the air cleaner. I think the engine will move more than that so I'll have to do something. I may look for a cowl hood scoop. Brian

Thanks guys.... I have been reading this site for almost a year now. It was time consuming to get information when the search function was down, but the info is there. Hey Dan, we had fun at the Rio Vista event. It took almost 12 hours one way with the stops for food and gas, but it was worth it. No open headers, I had the car towed to a muffler shop before starting it. Like the JTR manual says, it would have been easier for my wife to hear my screams for help. I have a transmission fluid leak from the cooler lines to fix before I can drive it. Soon I hope! Brian

This is my first post. I started the V8 for the first time a couple of days ago. I had to tell someone. Using the search function and browsing the posts has provided me with so much information and answers to most of my questions. This site is great. I talked to a few of you guys at the Rio Vista event this year, hope to have my car there next year. My car is a 76 with a 350 (JTR), a 700R4 and enough fusible links and relays to make Pete Paraska smile. Brian
