  1. We used the alignment tool that came with the kit. I will make sure that it is in gear and try the idea of spinning the tranny to align the splines -- I was doing it with my fingertips on the rear spline but it will be easier with the driveshaft. Thanks the suggestions. Pat
  2. Sorry. Used a hacksaw blade with holder. The bushing did not budge with the grease. Pat
  3. My son's 83 ZX Turbo was having clutch problems so we removed the transmission and replaced the clutch and throwout bearing. We are now trying to put the tranny back in and are having a hell of a time. We have about at half to 3/4 of an inch to go before the bell housing mates to the engine but cannot get that last little bit. We have a jack under the engine and have tried one and two jacks under the transmission. I have laid down under it and wriggled / wiggled and I just cannot get it to move forward that last little bit. I searched the forums and could not find anything. Does anyone have any suggestions before I light the thing on fire? A day laying on the garage floor trying to futz that tranny back in has left me a little frustrated. Thanks for any help you can provide. Pat
  4. Thanks for the help everyone. Got it done. pat
  5. Just pulled the tranny on my son's 83 280zx turbo to replace the clutch. I would like to replace the pilot bushing as well but do not see a way to get it out. The FSM says us ST16610001 Pilot Bushing Puller. I do not have one of those, of course. Does anyone know what I can use to pull the bushing? Thanks for any help you can provide. Pat
  6. Would like to have an ECCS Analyzer for the 83 ZXT. If anyone has a working one that they don't want anymore, I am interested.
  7. Have not gotten a chance to try it. My son took the car to college and is driving as is right now. When he figures it out or brings it back home so I can figure it out, I will post a reply here. Sorry I am not much help. Good luck.
  8. Thanks -- will go thru the air regulator checkout in the FSM. Had not considered that one as far as the cold start issue but it makes sense. Thanks, Pat
  9. Any help would be appreciated. This is my son's car and he is taking over working thru the problems. He has an FSM & Haynes but not a lot of auto experience. Symptoms are that when cold, the engine hesitates / stumbles when taking off from a dead stop. Get above a certain RPM and it seems OK. When warmed up it seems to run OK -- occasionally it will die when coming to a stop (push in clutch, let of gas and coast to a stop -- it has died a few times like this). What has been done is the following. Replace CHTS (verified working per FSM). Replace plugs Clean / flow test injectors, replace one bad. Splice in new injector connectors. Replace plugs Replace dizzy cap / rotor Verified O2 sensor (mechanic did but son is going to check LED). He is going to clean / verify the ECU connections and start working thru the FSM diagnostics. Does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks for any help you can provide. Pat
  10. Are the CV halfshafts available on this parts car? Interested in getting them, rebuilding and then swapping. Thanks. Pat
