  1. The block is pretty much the same, however the sleeves are very different. You cannot bore a VG 30 out to a 3.3. I have already been down this road! you will have to use the Vg 3.3 block and heads. thanks Josh
  2. OK so which one is the trigger wire on the factory harness? The Red ,Black ,Or White?
  3. I am in the process of putting an aftermarket O2 sensor on my 84 300ZX Turbo. Does anyone know which wire is the trigger wire? My three wires in the car are Black , Red , and White. The Universal ones are Black and Two whites. The black wire is supposed to hook up to the trigger wire? I don't know please help! Thanks Josh
  4. Dave will see you down there, are you leaving from Gville? If so we might be able to meet up. I am going down Sat evening.
  5. I am looking for info on putting a upright rad in my 84 300ZX. I know I have seen this but can't seem to find any info on it. I would appreciate any help you guys could give me. Thanks Josh
  6. Hey guys I'm playing around with my 81 280ZX N/A. I am going to order the JSK fuel Rail and want to put new injectors in. On a NON-Turbo can I use Injectors from another car? The search only gave me Turbo applications. This is a good DD car with all of the acessories, just starting to mod it alittle. Any help would be appreciated thanks Josh
  7. Hey guys, been searching for a list of years v's intake plentums. I have 3 right now N47-77 28Z, W24-81 280ZX, P72-?. Looking to see if anyone knows the difference or which one is better/worse. I am working on a 81 280ZX auto. The W-24 is on there right now, but if one of the others is better I would like to know, the auto needs all of the help it can get. If some one has a list of these please let me know. Thanks Josh
  8. So that means I have lost those other PM'S Man that sucks!
  9. You have to double the powervalve an 8.5 is about 17 vaccum. We have a buddy that is going to come by and look at it, He is very familier with Holleys.
  10. My private message bar has a red section a yellow section and the free section is in green. I can look at the pm's in the red but it will not let me look at the pm's in the yellow. The ones in the yellow are what I need! Please help or advise. Thanks Josh
  11. Thanks for the input guys, I have played with it alittle. The problem is I have to lean it out to idle and richin it up to run higher rpms. If I leave the carb rich enough to run say 2-3k rpm and let it idle it will pour black smoke out. Then I turn the fuel screws in a 1/4 turn and it quits smoking as bad, but if you try to rev it up it hesitates (starves for fuel). This is what I told the Holley rep and then he gave me his answer. Now I know that the L28 will usually pull about -20psi at idle. But I don't know how much flow it pulls at idle. So I think the powervalve is the best starting place, then move on to tuning and timing! I have got to find somone with a flowmeter.
  12. Hey guys, My brother needs some help that I can't provide. Does anyone here have any experience with the Holly 4barrel set up? We have got everything hooked up and have the car running. The problem is adjusting, I called Holley with our problem and they told me it sounds like the powervalve is too big. He said it comes with an 8.5 which is probally too big for a 2.8 liter. He said we need to find a flow meter, find out what idle cfm is then divide that number by two and thats what size powervalve to run. We can't find anyone witha flow meter! Do any of you guys know how many CFM's a L28 pulls idling? Thanks in advanced, Josh
  13. When I sign on it says I have 8 Total (private messages) When I click on the link it only shows four, I really need to see those other four but can't make it work. Can you help? I'v got some info on one of those other messages that is vital! Thanks Josh
  14. Thanks I'll ask them also!
  15. I am just wondering if the Nissan 3.0L V6 and the 3.3L V6 are the same block casting. If so, is it based on the early or late 3.0. I would like to modify one if so, Mabey TT my 99 Pathfinder Now that would be cool! Thanks in advanced.
  16. Comon guys, Yall put Z's on the moon how hard could this be? Just want to hear some opinions.
  17. Thanks for the reply Trevor and I really enjoyed the links, but my question is has anyone done this yet? I know I can make it work but it sure is nice to learn from others I have a late 70's model 302 with the sump in the front. I am pretty sure I'll have to find a double hump oil pan out of a fox mustang. I am planning on using my C-4 Auto and solid mounting a Ford 8.8 rear end into the car. This should be fum Might have to get started on this after Christmas.
  18. Hey guys, What about this swap anyone ever done this? My brother and I have a 88 300ZX parts car that the body is straight. We want to turn this into a Track only Drag car. I placed a post in Drivetrain already about puting a Ford 8.8 rear end in the car. We have a 302 with several mods backed up by a C-4 auto. I think this would be a cool swap and would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance Josh
  19. My brother and I were pondering the other day about building a Track only Drag car out of a 88 300ZX body we have. I already have a Ford 8.8 limited slip rear that we could use. My question is do you guys think it would hurt to mount this rear end solid? Meaning no suspension on the rear, just get the ride height where we want it and weld it in. We could use the front suspension to lift very easily for weight transfer and big tires out back to absorb the launch. This is a car we have been wanting to do somthing with for a while now. Let me know what you guys think, I'm curious about this.
  20. I am in no way an expert but when Nissan did my injector recall on my 84 300ZXT they did not use the individual wires. They took one wire on the left and right, basically they used one injector wire for 3 injectors. I diden't like the idea but they told me that after a certain RPM they all fired the same time anyway. The gas will not enter the cylinder until the valve opens anyway. So that could be something to think about,it could save you some time.
  21. Dan I get where you are coming from, However ive heard mixed feelings about the Holley 390cfm 4barrell. We are getting it for next to nothing from a friend who is runnung triple mukunis and he said that it pulled like a mule. The Webbers run like scalded dogs when the weather and tune up are right but thats not very often. We are hopeing to use the Holley for more predictablity. Thanks again for the info we really do appreciate it!
  22. Thanks for the replies guys, I hate for him to tear down that engine anyway it runs great and performs very well. We just got finished building our cousins 88 300ZX with full race cams, shaved heads, new pistons ect. and he waxed my brothers a$$. Which has caused an uprising I do agree with you guys to build the L-28 and have researched this pretty well. But for right now we could buy the cam, header, 4 barrell carb and intake, and put on the L-26 untill we have a L-28 built. Then we just swap over all of the performance parts. Again thanks alot guys, this is for my brother to see more than myself Josh
  23. Whats happen guys, lets look at the pros and cons and see if you guys can help me make a decision. Alright working on my brothers 1974 260Z stock motor with dual Webbers. My delima, we are going to put a cam set, Header, 3-angle valve job, resurface the head, new seals, mabey a little blending on the intake and exhaust ports, The only problem What Head? We can use the stock E-31 that is currently on it, or we have a N-42 and a N-47. I know we are not going to use the N-47 due to the exhaust liners so the battle is between the E-31 and the N-42. The E-31 is supposed to have alittle more compression but I think the N-42 has a larger exhaust valves. Another determning factor is he can still drive his car(daily driver) if we use the N-42 head. I don't know which one flows better nor do I know all of the pro's and con's. I do have a P-79 head but I just don't think we won't to do that much machine work, not a full race application here if you know what I mean. Any feedback would be appreciated. thanks Josh OHH YEA: I will be putting 280Zvalves and seats in either head so they will be up to date 8)
  24. I dont see how you hold on going that fast, I have taken my R1 up over 150 but you are all over the road. Its not like a smooth ride that just keep getting faster. That bike starts moving around and swawing with every cross wind. 205 I'd have to see it to believe it!
  25. I don't think you will find a SVO in a junk yard but you might find a Mekuer XR4TI it has the same engine as the SVO. This will give you everything you need. Dude I still want to build a 40 Ford coupe one day and I want this engine in it. It would be sweet, very little weight and you can get some very impressive power out of one. Parts are dirt cheap, and every dirt track racer has more than likley ran on of the 2.3 sometime in their career.
