  1. i've used mine on the streets for about 1 year now, but i dont drive that my Z that often... here is a pic http://www.slackaz.com/images/QUICK/1.JPG
  2. I didn't really understand what you were asking in your reply. I will jack up the front of the car tomorrow and snap some photos of the suspension w/o a load on it.
  3. Yea I got brand new tires on mine. I linked some pictures to how the Z sits right now to give an idea of what it looks like. thanks to all who replied http://www.slackaz.com/images/QUICK/1.JPG http://www.slackaz.com/images/QUICK/2.JPG
  4. When I set the illuminas to 1 in the rear its fine, but if i put it to 1 in the front, when the tires go over a bump, i can feel every part of that bump and in some cases (depending on the bump and the speed im traveling) my *** will leave the bucket seat. I've been testing different settings on the same street over and over again. Btw: The shocks aren't blown and I have tried a 225F/250R setup also with the same exact setup prior to the softer rates. Basically the same outcome, but the stiffer rates made it worse.
  5. I spent the last few days going through the hybridZ searches and just googling some stuff online, had a few questions thought some people mite be able to help me figure out. I have a 72 240Z (L28ET swap). My suspension on all four corners: Arizona Z car Coilover kit Eibach 8" springs (150F/175R) Poly Bump Stops Tokico Illuminas The problem I'm dealing with is a harsh ride quality. I dialed in some different settings w/ the illuminas and the best setting so far is 4 or 3 in the front and 1 in the rear. The ride quality is really bad at low speeds going over bumps, especially if they are consecutive bumps in the road. I was wondering if anyone had personal experience with what could be causing this type of problems in my suspension. I don't think that my spring rates are stiff by any means, but the free length is a significantly shorter than OEM. Also if my Lower control arm bushings are worn out, will that affect the lateral ride quality. btw: the issue is when driving straight, there are zero problems when going into turns. Thanks in advance.
  6. i spent today checking out my connections w/ moby's sticky. I also checked to make sure i had solid grounds @ the HEI. Im currently in the process of finding an MSD box on ebay. So i've almost given up on HEI as of now. Thanks for your help.
  7. Yea, i finished checking the connections and my resistors. So far no dice, im not sure wut to do now. I guess my only other option is to ditch the GM HEI and go w/ an MSD box. Just wish i could figure this out! Anyone have any input?
  8. I was getting a signal btw the MS and Laptop b/c i had the resistor grounded out on accident on the relay board (it was touching the body of the relay board). Also check ur connections to make sure you have everything in there good well enough. Bad connections held me back... you should also reference the way to test your connection btw the laptop and the MS by using the hyperterminal test where it tests ur cable. Just a few things i had to go through before i got a response btw my laptop and my MS. Good luck with that, hope you figure it out. Does anyone know off hand if i can wire my aftermarket Autometer tach wire into the TACH PORT on the relay board? or if i have to wire that up some way else? I only wonder b/c there is a wire from the turbo dizzy harness that goes into the tach spot and im wondering if you have those on the same port, if it will effect the spark, as i have no spark. Just wondering if someone knew about that.
  9. Well i took my time and went step by step in installing MSnS in my 72 240Z and it was going well. I was @ the final step when i was going to light up the Z and i found i have no spark. I currently am setup to how Moby's writeup is, but here is wut the status is as of now. I have only 10V @ the + side of the coil. I thought that was unusual, and so i tried two different switched powers, and its both the same outcome. When not hooked up to the coil, it was reading slightly higher around 11.5-11.9V Maybe that is the problem, there, but not sure. Everything else checked out normal, when i crank the engine, i have injector pulse and the computer "thinks" there is an ignition signal being sent (middle LED), but obviously there is something wrong. Below is the list of relevant parts i am using. 1981 L28et w/ 1982 Dizzy/CAS swap 60mm 240sx TB GM HEI module GM IAT sensor Nissan Head temp sensor MSD coil I am using the fuel and ignition values that moby used to initally get his car up and running. I am just wondering if anyone has a similiar problem w/ their MSnS setup or if anyone has any input on the problem i'm having @ this time. I hope to hear from anyone, thanks again for taking the time to read this. regards- david
  10. TONY D... remember me? hahaha! Well yea im still looking into and i found that the best thing to do is to go straight to MSnS as soon as i figure out all the wiring necessary. I also messaged MOBY and he suggested to just convert over to the 82/83 dizzy w/ internal CAS. As soon as i find one online or for a good price, im going to get it b/c the parts store wants an arm, leg and my first born child just for one. So im going to go ahead and do that, not that im giving up on the 81 CAS, but i think its a little out of my league if u kno wut i mean. Well i hope to have a chat w/ you when u get back in the states. Thanks for the input and all the extra info. Have a good one. regards- david
  11. Ok... yea my 240Z isn't a daily driver. I drive it anywhere from 1-3 days a week and only for short periods of time (15-30 mins). It doesn't leave far from home and i do have time to learn the tuning part of it, but i figure i'll get myself familiar w/ MS or MSnS before i buy the standalone. I've heard many people say start with MS first and then upgrade to MSnS b/c you mite run into problems and if u try to do too much @ once then it may turn into a headache. I WANT to just go w/ MS, but if i need ignition control too then i gotta do wut i gotta do. thanks for the quick reply.
  12. Yea. I was just trying to determine the facts from my assumptions. I spoke w/ Tony D a little bit about the swap with the 81 CAS, he's out of the states right now, but i hope to speak w/ him when he comes back. He told me a bit about Moby's maps, but im wondering if i can just run MS w/o the MSnS in the beginning. Thats wut i would ideally like to do, but if hooking up MSnS isn't much of a big step above MS (as far as wiring goes) then i'd take it on. I couldn't imagine it being much more difficult than trying to wire up the L28et into the 72 chassis, but i'd like someone else's opinion. I hope to get a clean cut answer about the Ms or MSnS before i begin to start making plans. thanks for the replies hope to get a few more.
  13. Im looking into getting MS, but was wondering if my 81 280zx motor needed MSnS or if i could just start with fuel control using MS and then when i needed the extra spark control move over to MSnS. Im just not 100% sure if my 81 ECU is needed to control the spark or not. I was looking through the diagram and see the YW that sends negative pulse, but can someone clear up my assumptions and ideas to real facts? Hope to hear from you guys. regards- david
