  1. Ok I need some help as I am losing hair quickly on this basically stock 77. I may leave something out, as I have done allot, but will try to include as much detail as possible. Car was running fine 8 hours earlier, came out starts just fine until I touch the gas and it stalled out. since then I have done the following. 1. Checked timing 2. Checked vacuum 3. Tested TPS (found dirty connectors but are now clean and reporting correct per FSM page ef-22 4. Easy from zcar suggested the AFM finger test and found that if I controll the weight from AFM car runs also is I slowly and throttle car will rev all the way up 5. Fuel pressure test is good 6. Working through stalling steps on FSM page ef-21 only thing I really found odd is at pin one only showing 8.1 volts I am not sure what else to do at this point. Going to get a coil in the morning to see.
  2. Want to say thanks for the help as she started this afternoon. Don't have all the gremlins all worked out yet (running a little rough). Need to set timing, adjust airflow and check vacuum pressure and all the other fun stuff that will get it running correctly.
  3. Thanks Idaho, the 77 came with a spare ECU (600) and believe that is why I am messed up. I currently have 3 ECUs (2 600s anfd a 601) and got them mixed up. Sence I knew one of the 600 was from the 77 I assumed the other should be a 600. However last night I hooked the spare intake up to my wiring harness (so I could see what injectors are doing) come to find out 1,2,and 3 are now hanging wide open with what I thought was the orignal ECU and 600#2 they are not opening at all. Hooked the 601up this morning and got all six firing correctly. Now I just need to replace the oil as it now has a grab load of Gas in it then put everything back together.
  4. Manual Tranny I am not sure witch of the following A11-600-000 or a A11-601-000
  5. I have been searching and can't find a clear post. Can someone please tell me what ECU should go with a late 77 cali car with MT? Thanks Dave
  6. Getting closer, Think I may have swapped or fried ECU along the way

  7. hey, did you figure it out yet?

  8. I am rather sure I would not have taken the time to write use FSM.
  9. Short version of the story is that my son's 77 is down compression on the 4th and 5th cylinder. While getting ready to pull the motor we came across a really good deal on a donor car that only has 5k on a rebuild. The wiring harness from the donor car is almost perfect, while the original had someone do a poor hack job on it. Anyway before I got 2 deep I noticed an extra couple pins, the ECU was a 601 instead of a 600 and a missing 2 prong plug. Short version is can I swap the harness as long as I take the ECU? Secondly original has a extra 2 prong connection under the dash that hooks to a Brass cylinder, anyone know what that is and do I need it?
  10. You really think I can correct 55PSI lose by simply adjusting the valves?
  11. So shortest version of this story goes a little something like this. My first car 1985ish was a 76 280z and have some sort of Z ever since. I currently own a 90tt, but my son caught the bug also. He traded his CRX for a 77 280 with a "bad fuel injector". After playing with it for a little bit and removing some of the cob webs have remembered some of the tricks to the Z.have not had a car that has a l28 for the last 10 years). Anyways after doing a compression test we believe it is the head, not "bad injector". Have a nasty tick/ clacking sound from 5 and pulling the wire from that plug does nothing. So after several searchs, I was wondering if anyone knows of a step by step writeup on pulling the head? We have an old Chiltons and downloaded the FSM for the car, but the other would really be nice to have in the garage. For those wondering 1. 150 2. 152 3. 152 4. 110 5. 95 6. 145ish Anyways thanks for any help. Dagold
