  1. jeeeesus that's a lot of issues.

Before I begin, this is probably better off in the MS forum here under engine management.

First: is your first problem. What's your battery voltage at?

Second: what kind of fuel pump are you using, is it behind a relay like it's supposed to be, and is the fuse blown? What size fuse are you using?

Third: it sounds like your firing order might be just running backwards. This problem happened to me when my firing order was right, but was going the wrong direction on the dizzy.

Fourth: what happens when you try to calibrate the TPS?

  2. I'm looking for a way to go from the 5\16" return line on my 7mgte to the 3\16" fuel return tube in the front of my 240z.

I'm aware that I'll need to upgrade the fuel lines before I push too much power, but I know that it'll hold up for now, also.

Any suggestions? I was thinking like a piece of 3\16 to a 3\16 to 5\16 male-male barb adapter, but I can't find anything of that sort!

    TIA,

    Alec

  3. yes, but the missing teeth must be 180deg apart from each other for it to work. i was thinking of doing this but the 24+1 is more accurate as its 1 tooth per 15deg instead of 1 tooth per 30deg.

I'm having a hell of a time getting VEMS to fire these ignition coils. does anyone know the dwell settings required for a 7mgte coil?

  4. Just wanted to throw some praise in the air, AGAIN, for Matt @ DIYAutotune.com.

I bought my original msns-e kit from him about 5 years ago, and have since sold the kit\motor.

He was a huge help to me then, and I'm stuck on a problem with VEMS, a product I don't even think he sells, but I thought I'd give him a call and ask him his input, and he spent about ten minutes on the phone with me troubleshooting until I figured it out.

The world needs more people like this, so if you get a chance to install Megasquirt in your ride, buy it from Matt.

He tunes cars, and doesn't afraid of anything.

  5. I'm missing something pretty critical. I don't have the wiring harness side of the 9 pin plug that powers the wipers on the combo switch. I can't find a plug at any of the scrap yards around here, and the couple of z shops around town want $buttload to supply me with one.

Since the Painless sticky's pinout diagram is for painless harness to the plug, and I don't have the plug, I'm screwed! I have no idea which wire on the one side of the plug matches up to which wire on the other side of the plug. Can somebody make me a pinout of the 9 pin connector underneath the column? I need to know which color on one side corresponds to which color on the other side.

Or better yet, if there's anyone in the Seattle area willing to let me sit in their drivers seat with a pad and a pen, I'd appreciate that too.

Thanks everyone, and if you're in Seattle, gimme a call at 425-772-1481.

  7. you'll be fine running a turbo on an NA motor. You will get more power gain per pound of boost through the turbo since the compression of the motor is higher, but you will be able to run less boost overall, again since the compression is higher.

  8. Hmmm never heard of it before looks interesting did you have any quirks with the unit you were running, things you wished it had or things you felt it needed?

Haven't found any quirks yet, but then, I haven't tried starting it yet! I'm still out due to a shoulder surgery back in jan.

There is nothing this unit needs, there are enough extra inputs\outputs to do anything you would feasibly want to do. I can put you in touch with a good friend of mine who built my unit if you're interested.

  9. I wouldn't drop that much money on something I couldn't see run first.

More importantly, though, you can't verify the mileage on the motor or tranny. Chances are everything is fine, but with the number of z parts I have laying around, I could put together a scrap tranny, scrap motor with decent enough compression to sell, and probably could find an ecu that I had to replace at one point, doll them up a bit and sell them as a rear clip.

Probably just some guy selling his camaro that got rear ended though.

$3500 is a little steep to begin with, depending on what he means by "accessories".

  10. I got sick of working on the motor stuff for a while, so I moved to a much more messy part of my project, my custom dash! Please be gentle, I know it doesn't look so hot right now, but I'll eventually be bondo-ingpainting it... but for now, this represents 30 or so hours of work, a couple hundred bucks in fiber, a grand or so in silicon, a lot of itchy clothes, and a LOT of love.

    Here it goes:

Cut some cardboard to fit up to the window

    IMG_0676.jpg

    joined the cardboard together

    IMG_0675.jpg

Fiber glassed one side of the cardboard and scraped the cardboard off once the fiber cured:

    IMG_0680.jpg

    IMG_0681.jpg

Repeat the last couple steps til you have a couple pieces to join together:

Cut a hole for the steering wheel and fit up to make sure you're going to be able to fit the sucker into your car:

    OregonTrip016.jpg

Cut monitor hole and mount monitor

    OregonTrip017.jpg

Cut hole for Computer case and fiber case in:

    OregonTrip017.jpg

And those are all the pics I have for now. Right now, the USB Hub, iPod docking station, and mounting brackets are curing, once they're done, I'll up some more pics!

This is also the latest post in my project thread, but I wanted to hear some opinions, and folks can't reply to the project thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=130545

    What do you guys think?
