  1. Hi I have been thinking about using an aluminum front wing set back into the gap the front bumper leaves. The only thing is I am not sure how it would work being pushed back so far. If air build up behind it to much it will not have any flow over it and just be a piece of I candy and worthless. But also sticking it out 10" in front of the car while working fine I dont think would look very good? Any way just A thought I have been playing with. Any suggestions or thoughts would be helpfull.
  2. Great:) Nice to see you getting close on the car. I think we would all like to see some pictures or even better video:)
  3. Sounds good. Also how does he plan on doing the clutch?
  4. Mizugori I would suggest an older z myself they are weight less and are emissions exempt.
  5. Hmm well know we have to see about Hitman47 and his complete kit the guy is working on.
  6. I would be glad to buy a kit when he gets a basic one setup if it has a good motor height and setback etc. Show him a video of Darius and his Z that should help get him excited about making a Ford version.
  7. What about helping gather and format the information:)
  8. Also does any one know if the 240z coilover conversion kit I am trying to by used/new will work on the 260z? Or can I just get the parts I need of the 240z if it has the wrong size strut housings?
  9. Well guese I could just look at the weight on the doors after I drive up there. Hmm
  10. Is any one running alsil motor mounts with a 351w?
  11. I have a chance to buy a 260z or at least go look at it and see if it is what he says it is. Any way does any one know how much more the 260z ways I know the 280z is like 400 more. Also did all 260zs come with small bumpers like 240zs? Thanks for the help. Also this car is for a V8 swap.
  12. Well I had to get my daily driver inspected today and since I was there I asked them about it. They said if I bring in a an early model Z like a 72 etc they are not even going to look at what year motor it has etc. I also asked another local shop and they said the same thing. I live in Johnson county just for future reference.
  13. Hi I am working on a planning a v8 swap. I know on the older Zs your not supposed to have emissions checks but only safety. But I thought I read some place that if you put a newer motor say an 89 model motor in the car that its stupposed to keep what ever emissions equipment came on the car. Basicly I am trying to figure out if I should stick with on early model motor say 71 or go ahead and do a new model motor like an 89 etc. Thanks very much for any help you can give.
  14. The more I think about it tonight I think the Cobra theme would be good. Since I am going with a 351w basicly just like this... http://www.fordcobraengines.com/cobra351.html
  15. True but then again with a Ford 351w with the "Cobra Powere By Ford" valvcovers and cobra aircleaner maybe the cobra centercaps will be ok. Maybe even cobra badges:)
  16. Just wondering if I am the only one that works out a theme for a car before I start buying things? For the Z I am about to start its going to be a late 60s early 70s sports car / race car theme. For example I am wanting to go with vintage looking rims but more the Daytana Coupe look not the small z size vintage rims. Maybe 17x8 Mustang Bullit rims or something. Also I am wanting to go with the aluminum or crome bullit type racing mirrors or Raydyot racing mirror like they used on most of the race cars back then. Also when I get to paint and other details of the cat I will try to stick with this theme. What kinds of themes if any are you guys working at doing?
  17. Hi I am trying to decide on rims for my Z. I am thinking more and more about going with coilovers and 17x8 or maybe 9 under stock fenders if they will fit. I am wanting to do the cars in classic late 60s early 70s look. I am thinking for a cheap vintage look with 17x8 the grey Bullet mustang rims would look good. I am just not sure if they will fit even with adapters. Any one have any advice on rims? http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/replicawheels3.htm
  18. Moridin The numbers we should check is the sentences for the same crimes for people of different races. That would be a better way to look at it. It is possible that more black people are committing more crimes. We might also look at the problems with culture, economics etc in the backgrounds of people commiting these crimes and see how best to fix them. But also read the reports of the crimes and see what you think. These people do deserve to be executed. We should just make sure of every case.
  19. Well I have been doing more and more reading and here are the plans. The goal is for around 400hp real street motor on the lowest possible budget and that is as dependable as possible. I think to make things easy and to be sure how things will work the best way is to go with the Edelbrock RPM power package. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/7181pp.html It will make 400hp from a 351w I have found more articles of buildups to back up edelbrocks claims. It also seems to make the HP and Torque in a range that is usable on the street and that will let the engine live for a long time. I think I can do this engine very cheaply if I pick up the parts one at a time as I find good deals on used pieces. I think this motor with a T5 will be a good performance price combo. If any one has any feed back on how to get the most reliable/usable power for the best price in a small block Ford package let me know. Also the car will be for the street and some autocross and drags etc on the weekends when I have time.
  20. I found a coilover conversion set like this http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=12 from someone that needs to sell them. They have never been used but he does not know what springs he as since he got the set used also. He also does not know if its for a 240 or 280 but I guese I can have him measure to see on that part of it. As for the springs how can you tell what they are? Oh and whats a fair price for something like this if I am gambling on the springs?
  21. Since starting the research on this I am wondering why we dont have a complete converion kit for the ford. Or atleast a book. It seems this is what is holding back seeing lots of Ford conversions. We have LOTS of wrecked 5.0 mustangs. Plenty of 351w in the wrecking yards. Plenty of cheap go fast parts thanks to all of the 5.0 Mustang owners. Why dont we start something like this in the Open Source type format like they do for software? If we do start this what parts/info are we missing and what do we have? A list of things I can think of off hand we would need info on. Really I am thinking for 90% of the project it would just be collecting and orginizing information. 1. Motor mounts and information on how they relate to motor height, hood clearance, trans position etc etc. 2. Clutch conversion for the T5. Also of course for the easer automatic for people wanting to go that way. 3. 5.0 EFI wiring information. 4. Header and exhoust information. 5. Drive shaft. 6. Cooling system 7. Air conditioning. Sure I am forgetting many things but its a start:)
  22. No problem. But it is interested that he told you that in class and that no one called him on it.
  23. I think you need to buy it then finish it and you can have the only one in the entire world:)
  24. Those figures are not correct China executes more than the rest of the world combined and those numbers are underated as many many go unreported. Also in the US the people being executed tend to have done things like take young girls from slumber parties and rape and torture them. In China it tends to be for political reasons and not just crimes. Also in Iran they executed 16-year-old girl on vague charges of un-Islamic behaviour not to long ago. So please if you are going to post facts check them:) And comparing apples to apples is always nice also. People on Death Row in Texas, their crimes, age, photos, race etc. http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/stat/offendersondrow.htm Iran News http://www.iran-press-service.com/ips/articles-2004/august/ateqeh_executed_27804.shtml Amnesty International http://www.amnestyusa.org/abolish/document.do?id=3E4211D4A5E4D9A080256E67005A4CAE "In 2003, 84 per cent of all known executions took place in China, Iran, the USA and Viet Nam. In China, the limited and incomplete records available to Amnesty International at the end of the year indicated that at least 726 people were executed, but the true figure was believed to be much higher: a senior Chinese legislator suggested in March 2004 that China executes "nearly 10,000" people each year. At least 108 executions were carried out in Iran. Sixty-five people were executed in the USA. At least 64 people were executed in Viet Nam." http://www.amnestyusa.org/abolish/document.do?id=3E4211D4A5E4D9A080256E67005A4CAE[/url]
  25. Thanks for the warm welcome. As soon as I find a good new z to start with I can start getting serios about the motor. It seems like a 351w running a carb would be the easest way to go and the cheapest also. Just found a 240 down the road from my house sitting that looks like it does not run with no rust. Now I just need to catch the people home and see if they will sell it to me. Well to be more exact sell it to me CHEAP and I am cheap hehe.
