But my friend has one with no shaft play and super LOW miles...for a super "friendly" price. I have an l28et i am planning on rebuilding sometime this summer. As far as goals are... im not looking for a high power monster... really just looking to have a reliable 250-300 hp with low lag. So whatchall think? Thanks again, Rob
  3. Got one on the way... thanks guys!
  4. Not in the mood to pay 50-100 bucks for a gas cap. If you have a large one for the early zs let me treat you to a nice dinner for it. Lmk whatcha got / condition / price. Thanks Rob
  5. Curious if anyone knew if there was a difference between the OEM ball joints and the no name ball joints on motorsport autos website? The price difference is so huge i just have to make sure im not missing something. Thanks Rob IE here http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/SSSC01D
  6. As much is i LOVED the sound of my carbed l28.... ive always wanted a boosted car.... im kinda looking into an sr20det swap... or an l28et if i can find one in decent enough condition. Ill give that shop a call and see if its still hanging around. For the time being i feel ive already spent enough on the car.... im kinda itching to have her on the road.... specially since i just got insurance and registered it =( So... we got the cheap route.... and the expensive route.... What to do....
  7. Rough night tonight.... wasnt even pushing her too hard and blew a headgasket.... what to do now.... looking into a swap.... maybe l28et... maybe sr20det? Any ideas / anyone have a cheap l28et laying around the triangle?
  8. Hahahaha... the scooter got phased out of the transportation scene a while ago. I got a 1981 Yamaha 250 Exciter now to get me around when i want the wind on my helmet lol. Hows that gl1000? haha even 600 CC bikes give me the creeps haha. I drove my cousins cb600RR with every bell and whistle he could have on it.... i just bout ♥♥♥♥ my pants hitting 12k in 3rd it was insane. But hey if you see a cb350/360 round your parts for cheap let me know im in the market for a little more power =)
  9. Definitly the man.... i <3 him worked on my bmw since i decided i hated the stealership
  10. Im 23 this year. With 5 points currently on my license. It cost me 476 and change for 6 months = But with my record i can be happy with that. Getting caught at triple digits is not good for you. Financially that is =)
  11. Also she is currently registered and plated =) w00t w00t so yal might be seeing me out in the concrete jungle soon enough
  12. I just ended up taking it to my BMW mechanic. He does porcshe work as well. His rate is a bit steep but he is an old Z enthusiast and definitly got all the kinks out of her in no time. Its Automotive Solutions outside of chapel hill out on whitecross rd right off of 54. As far as the timing goes i think i got it all sorted out... shes driving like a champ now.... i think i still need to get the carbs rejetted but otherwise she is doing wonderfull. Now i am just looking for an lsd to keep my rear end in check =)
  13. Just got her back from the shop... boy oh boy do i love my yellow banana. As far as the girl that went to unc... you have any more details about her or anything you can recall? Im super interested in it's history and build. You wont see her around town too much yet since i havnt gotten her registered =(.... but... if your up in the wee hours.. she has 3 / 4 am runs through the countryside. Hope to see you on the road soon though
  14. Not quite sure on what the specs are.... other than shes running on panasport 16x7 with triple webers, canon intake, some kind of header, and other than that i have no idea. We are going to have a picture scavenger hunt as soon as i get the car back to try to id anything else i missed. Rob
  15. Also anyone have any idea what insurance is like on these things.... i have a bit of a nasty driving record and im hoping that i will be able to afford the insurance on this old girl.
  16. She is currently out at a shop getting the carbs looked at. Should have her back mid month. Told him to just put it on the backburner. Hopefully i will have a better idea of whats inside her by then. And of course more pictures =)
  17. Thanks for the positive thoughts everyone. Its nice to be so welcomed in a forum =)
  18. I'm actually selling my car, turbo kit and all if you're interested, but i see you're in NC, so I don't know if you want to mess with transporting it.

  19. Yah hes def looking for a 240 =( But Glws
  20. Yes... that is my busted tomos in the background... bent frame.. no headlight... no speedo.... still gets my pudgy ass to work when the Exciter 250cc isnt up to the task lol. Its actually for sale in the Triangle area for 200 bucks haha.
  21. If you pass on that 240 let me know what it looks like. I got a buddy in the market for one. Thanks for the welcome... love the forums so far =)
  22. Ahh i had so much fun going up there, i miss the mountainsides so bad. I hope i can have my zed up and running soon for the spring season on the hills. Good luck with the car hunt.
  23. only selling her over my dead body. Ended up going for 2500. He was pretty firm on the 3k but the clutch was "out" when i looked at it so i got a bit off. Also the panasports were 16x7 so all my spare rubber from the oem bmw rims fits right on =)
  24. So this will be my first Z. . I have been driving a bmw wagon for the past 4 years and shes starting to rack up the miles... (240k). So theres a bit of a story behind this old girl i found. I originally saw her while i was up at college at App state 4 years ago in West Jefferson. She never moved but i never had any buying power. Apparently the PO bought her and had her shipped from CA as his midlife crisis purchase. A month after the car arrived he developed heart complications and passed away a month later. The car then sat for 2 years, then a local mechanic drove it for 2. After that the mother of the owner decided she needed the money. Thats when i see her on craigslist. I go to take a look. Minimal rust. hatch is super clean and original looking. A little bit under the battery tray but nothing unreasonable and the body is clean other than a little bubbling on the hood vent. Engine wise all i could see with my untrained eye was the triple webers. I guess its time for some pictures Now i was able to drive her 150 miles home after a quick clutch line bleeding. On the other hand... i had no plates, no headlights, no running lights etc. The brakes you had to pump to get any action. And there was nothing at idle (900) - 2k But once u got past 2 k she was like a cruise missile. I have since changed all the fluids, new coil, seafoamed, carb cleaner sprayed, cleaned the filters. Pretty much everything i can do before taking the carbs apart. Its just that she idles so well and response is great once you get past the 2k bump. Anyone have any ideas or insight to help me out? Thanks in advance, Rob
