  1. i cant find a passenger side axle. apparently they are on factory back order. i live in CT. r they available out on the west coast. id rather have a quality rebuilt axle, not a junkyard one.

  2. i am buying the billet z31 axle adapters from MM.

im noticing that the z31 axles are different lengths. are the different lengths nessicary? i ordered both axles and one was completely wrong (it was the longer of the 2) what im getting at, is it possible to use 2 of the shorter axles?

  3. i just picked up triple 40 DCOE's and im thinkin about getting them powder coated. i know itll look awesome, just wondering if anyone has done it, if so do you have pics?

i know inglese and fuelish have done it on numerous applications, but i wanted to see it on a z

  4. doesnt sound like a good idea to me, i dont see how you having money problems would lead you to spend money on carbs, for little to no difference in performance. the money you would spend on a nice carb setup would easily put you on your way to a nice megasquirt setup.

now a nice turbo setup would be well worth your money. depending on how much work you put into the engine, ie.: forged pistons, o-ringed cylinders, correct head work and cam. boost levels can get pretty high. but on a low budget, lower boost levels are much safer.

not sure a desiel turbo would work on a gasoline engine. im sure the engine would struggle to spool it up.

  5. depends on what you what you plan on doin to the block. but i have done a little research on a product called glyptol. you can coat the inside of the engine and it seals in the casting sand. i think there are a few guys here that use it.

  6. i dont have any experience with them, but through my searching all ive found was that they are claimed to be an improvement on the weber design. but thats about it, i dont think theyve been around long enough to get enough feedback from users.

its def a good price for the kit, but i just dont like the look of them. the webers and mukunis are much better looking. maybe now that weber stopped producing DCOE's more people will be purchasing the OER's, and well have more feedback.

  7. I dont' want to offend anybody here.. but I would never run a 4bl setup on a Z motor.

It's just the ethics of it to me... I'd also never put a v8 in my Z...

I like to keep an import.. imported.

    just my theory anyway.

to super dan and datsun lover, i think the opinion that nismo280zed are allowed in this forum considering we are in the L6 forum,.... its not like we are posting not to drop a v8 in a z in the v8 forum.(keeping in mind this is hybridz) any modification that is not stock is a hybrid of sorts. it really depends on what the driver is looking for. i myself would never put a GM product into my z, while others turn theirs into GM scream machines. if your goin to do it i say go all out, dont mix jap w/ domestic, just doesnt look right.

  8. its my understanding that a bored stroker is far from a stock block. a stroker is made to make power at high rpm's. correct me if im wrong. SU's are nice carbs but not if he is running a stroker. If he put a nice set of properly tuned 40's on his stroker hed be able to get some of the low end back, compared to the 45's. and he would be able to reach the top end that the stroker is going to create......

  9. btw tony78, i was making my statment directed towards stroker3.0, as you see he posted this thread and does not drive a chevyZ.

and i like your point hellraiser, you cant beat the performane and overall enjoyment of tripples, i dont have anything against webers, but mukuni's are excellent carbs. it makes no sense to purchase a 4 barrel intake manifold, just look at the runners compared to tripples. a 4 barrel conversion on a z just isnt right.

  10. it did run well, the accelerator pump diaphram was pad, so i rebuilt them, but havent ran the car since. i took most of the engine bay apart to replace parts and so forth. but now im buying a new motor, head, intake, exhaust, tranny, rear end..... the usual Z FEVER. im not sure if im goin to sell everything i have or just store it as spare parts.

  11. im not a pro in the area of cams. but in my opinion schneider cams are the way to go. most of their cams have an asymetrical grind, which is better for the valve train. i called them up and a cam goes for like $175. i believe MSA sells schneider cams. schneider provides cams for many race cars on the west coast and they have a real good reputation.

although i have not looked into isky cams as much so my vote is fairly biased.

  12. well hydraulic lifters or not, youd have to do some serious shaving and shimming to get any decent amout of compression on a N/A motor. for ease of use, anyone is better off with an e88 or n42. one of these heads with a good porting job can flow just as well. p90 is a great head, and i think only the p90a had hydraulic lifters. do you know what the cc of the chamber is?

and an f54 is a block wich came on the zx's. wouldnt increase hp's, its just got webbing in the water jackets between the cylinders.

  13. right.... youd def have to take the head off, and go to work. serious port and polish, large valves, cam. then upgrade fuel delivery and a good scavaging exhaust. the block and pistons prob dont need to be touched, unless you have dished pistons. then youd have to replace those for flat top or domed.

so a couple thousand for good quality parts and machining.... or save some money and do some of the head work on your own

the only bolt-ons would be turbo or nitrous (not usually done on z's)
