  1. My wife is watching it since she was a fan of the 1960's(?) version. The new version looks pretty good too, although there are some changes. Looks very interesting though. I could get into this one better, I'm sure, especially with a great actor like Jim Caviezel in the leading role. Yes, this show is kind of like an acid trip :D

  2. OK, I was intrigued by the idea of this flaming hot habanero jelly, so I made 3.5 pints of it today. I spilled at least 0.5 pints of this napalm on the burner  I wore nitrile gloves and almost wore my goggles too, heh, just to keep the seeds and habanero juice out of my eyes. I made a mess in the kitchen and have to wait for a few hours to try the jelly in the cooling off period (the jelly and my wife).

  3. The skyline reminds me too much of this car:

...which gives me nightmares since I did own one back in the '80's. I called it the "200 SUX" (as in two hundred sucks...) for good reason: it did.

I suppose I'm trying NOT to see any resemblance to my 240Z and the Skyline :P

  4. If this is an LT1 engine, it won't be from a truck. It should be from a Camaro, Corvette, or possibly an Impalla SS. In general the 350/5.7L engines on trucks are not set up for 'performance' like they are in the cars and yes, the transmissions are geared differently too. If you do happen to pick up a truck motor sometime, you will most likely have to (or should have to) replace the camshaft to get the rpm range higher, suitable for more performance, replace the intake and carb, although many trucks have a 4 barrel carb already, and replace the exhaust manifolds with headers. Many trucks engines have lower compression heads, which don't flow like the performance heads in the cars. Keep in mind that all of this I am telling you is "in general."

Now, this list is not inclusive--I would also replace the timing chain with a double roller unit, the rockers with roller rockers, pushrods, etc. More performance means more money and more/different parts many times.

Again, if this is a true LT1, it may be fuel injected and computer controlled. What you end up buying changes a lot of things, so let us know what you end up with so we can help.

For buying an engine, my rule of thumb is to buy the best performance engine I can afford at the get go if I have to settle for a stock engine in a Chevrolet vehicle. You can always build up from stock as time goes on.

  5. Please tell me the bidding amount is actually a joke :ugg:

The engineering and parts don't add up to well north of $7,000, so what gives?? I just don't get it. I think a racing bar stool would be more fun.

  6. Congratulations on a very sweet addition to your family :) I can't imagine your wife passing that size of baby---makes a person shudder. Soooo, this was a natural, unmedicated birth, eh? Kudos to your wife for getting through all that. Makes me glad I'm a man, because I cannot fathom having to birth a child--it's not like you can pop a Tylenol and call it "good." I like that name Lucy or Lucia--good choices :2thumbs:

  7. Paul, this video is even better--longer with more engine sounds...man, that car is insane!

I have to agree with you on the 962: it is one of the best knock-your-socks-off looking race cars and to have a streetable one would be too cool. I keep looking at cars the Mosler and similar cars with a set up like the 962. My wife is going to have to work her tail off for me to afford one :D

  8. It's funny that sometimes a faulty part that we didn't know about makes the car slower than it should be! My neighbor just replaced a faulty carb on his Boss 302 Mustang and he swears it's so much faster than before. Good work on getting your tranny in by yourself. I have done it too--it just takes time :ugg:

  9. Since you are lacking the necessary mechanical skills, learning from a hybrid swap is NOT where you want to start, in my humble opinion. I think it would be unwise, but you need to determine what you are willing to do to get what you want and how badly you want it. I would take some classes at a community college to start with, or just buy a running, old Z car and monkey around with it for a few years before doing a swap. Just my $.02

You need to educate yourself with books, tools, and the like. You can spell and don't use text messaging in your post, so there is great hope for you. ;)

I look for people with little mechanical proficiency to buy parts & cars from---they are always the ones having fire sales on parts because they have to dump their projects when they get in above their heads. Word to the wise...
