I see a couch, lamp, and sheetrock in the bottom photo. I could live there....

Common problem... and thats with a race prepped 1147cc motor... Only like... 100-130hp. However I'm sure those dudes switched to the proper axles. Its a well known problem.
I'm going to say that the entire rear end in those Spitfires is a known problem. My friend in highschool broke a spindly-looking u-joint doing basic burnouts (I was with him, but not driving, thank you). I have a idea that those cars were not made for any kind of "punishment" at all. They do look and sound good though...

sounds like a good idea but is there any fabracating needed to install a t5 and do you think the drive shaft from the th350 slash r200 will bolt to the t5
The 200R-4 transmission will bolt in and be the same length as the TH350 tranny. You won't have to have the driveshaft resized or anything. If you put in the T5, you will have to have the driveshaft shortened (if memory serves). Try searching the topics in the forum and you'll probably find the answer you are looking for. There's gold in the archives.

Great video! I like the tech parts too--very informative to see how you guys mod the Miatas. Do you like your LS1 Miata better than the Ford V8? Should I even ask??

I like it, it flows with the black decals on the sides well.
I agree as well--and don't forget the black ZG flares too--it all flows very well. Looks great!

The MSA kit is made by Precision, which is the same stuff everyone sells. There was a difference between the 280Z kit and the 240Z kit, judging by the archives, with one having thicker or stiffer door rubber. At some point, they started selling just one kit. My guess is that it is the one they sell is the stiffer one.
Here is something interesting I came across a few days ago: I was looking in a old JC Whitney catalog and ran into one of their ads for weatherstripping. They showed cut-way views of the different patterns and it looks like there are more than a few that could be good for the Z. The main thing to do is go to a good junkyard and start pulling weatherstrip from a number of vehicles (newer is better), try to match up the Z's rubber, and go from there. Can you imagine finding good, soft, pliable rubber that would work for the doors?!? Yeah, I can't either.

easier to switch to a 200r-4 or 700r.
Agreed.
automatics suck in a z.No they don't. I have driven V8 Z cars with automatics and they are great from my experience. They also have 700R4 or 200R-4 automatics and work extremely well with the 4th (overdrive) gear. This guy may want an auto and there's really nothing wrong with that, especially for his intended use. The whole setup needs to work together: engine, transmission, rear gears, even the size of tires--you must take it all into account when building a car.
...use a GM t5 with a 3.90 gear. works great!!!Good to know, thanks
That's what I have going in right now. I'll see how the 3.90 is with the T5 and if I don't like it, I'll swap in the 3.54 VSLD.

Would make an easy convertible conversion, though.
This is exactly what came to mind. But, as was stated earlier, the reinforcing should have been done. I hope it was. You could still do the bracing if it doesn't have it. I'm not sure who is still making the old Origin convertible stuff now.

Nope, those are fannie packs made to look like parachutes....

Awesome setup. The sound must be amazing...good enough (loud enough
) to hear it over the sound of the exhaust

you are too kind, Jerry...let's hope it runs as good as it looks..
Speaking of Rip, have you heard from him lately? I seem to have lost him...
Wayne
He hasn't posted in quite a while. Hopefully he's O.K. and just busy.

I believe it is FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) like that found in the early sugar scoops...
That's a "no" for sure on the scoops. The material of the console does not have the same composition as the scoops do (I know, I have cracked both...)

i vote clive "spin doctor" bogle.
that one is fantastic--I understand the inside joke

I was looking at the front end of your Z, nice, is that a body kit? I might go with something like that?
Jim Cook Racing "California Z" is what I believe that body kit is. The front airdam is from MSA though.

Wayne, I was reading the numbers you just posted and I thought, "Boy that looks strange: 537 lb ft of torque at 3400, 470 hp at 5300 at 3 lbs of boost..." But then I realized that this was only at 3 LBS OF BOOST!!!.
I'm really looking forward to the final dyno numbers on this engine. Great work, Wayne!!

That wasn't much money, well spent. Grief DOES have a dollar value! JTR stuff minimizes the grief.
Well put.

Tyson, the B210's look good with little ZG flares and some Watanabe's or Panasports. I think his price is high since the body & paint are so so, but I have to ask the question, how often does a clean little B210 come along? It would make a pretty cool little racer or make a decent DD.

Looking good, Ratzun. Weren't you Ratsun on here before?? I believe you were the same
I like these sentenses in your description of the first dyno pull:
"Our first pull was to 5000 with only partial throttle opening and it made only
570 hp or so. Tracy made a few adjustments in the software for the fuel injection and we ended up pulling it about 5 more times. Each time making a few more adjustments in between and raising the RPM up a little each time. The final pull ended up at 6200 rpm and it made right at 840 horse power
and 720 foot pounds of torque. With 700 foot pounds at 4000 rpm..."
Keeeyripes, man! That's just sick

The motor sounds great! Finally all that hard work is coming together---such a great looking car too. I admire your craftsmanship and tenacity in completing your Z car build. The white Z car was nice, but this one is miles ahead with everything you have put into it. Very cool.

I love the reflection of the hands holding the camera, Hanns
It took me a second or two before I saw that. I love your engine---I want to hug it.

yikes my car just made 505 hp at the wheels is that safe to have those stock ones redrilled???
Should be as safe as the stock 4-lugger. The MM piece is like art--super high quality and very beefy, yet not too heavy either. I have inspected them, but have yet to buy *cough afford cough* some. I love some though

I vote NSX. Everything is right for that car. Do the Z later, man. Listen to the Admin or I'll ban you

Wayne! Car sounds pretty good; many thanks for the teaser. I'd love to see your car make it down the track...I think the tires will spin the entire way though![:D](//forums.hybridz.org/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
