  1. So which Headers from JTR is everyone using, they sell two types for the Z:

     

    1) Block Hugger - 1 5/8" Primary tubes, 2.5" collector-Ceramic Coated (DAT-402C) $300

    Can't tell if these fit on the LSx engines or the LT1/350

     

    2) LS1 Shorty Headers - 1 3/4" Primary tubes, 3" collector-Ceramic Coated (DAT-405C) $475

    These ones are advertised as being able to fit with John's Cars mounts.

     

    I'm assuming #2 is the one people are using but hoping they both work as $475 seems a bit high for short headers.

    Thanks very much for the info. John didn't tell me that I needed a different motor mount and when I got his kit. I thought that mount was missing. Just another thing to add to my list. Here is a picture of where my car is right now. Over the holidays I will be welding all the seams to try and stiffin up the frame. 240z's are not as stiff as the 280Z's.

    Thanks. I ordered most of the kit from John's, didn't get the AC yet as I wasn't sure I could use the one that came with the GTO. The guy I purchased my engine didn't have the master cylinder. Thought maybe you might have access to a auto wreckers that might have one. They don't sell the GTO in Canada. Is there another master cylinder that might work? I guess the 05/06 corvette should. Has anyone used a different kind from another vechicle that bolts up as clean as the GTO one?

    Is that the air conditioner or the power steering unit on the right front of the engine? Do you have connections to get another GTO Master Clutch cylinder, I'm in need of one as well as Oil pan with the pickup at the back. I'm about six months behind you, just got my engine and starting to clean up my engine bay for painting.

  5. Not really! Depending on the year the block could be a F54 which is the same as the turbo engine. As for the head, it will not be a P90 or P90a but you could have P79 head which can be used depending on your build.

    Starter, alernater, distributor can all be used interchangeably. Only some 83 ZX cars came with T5 Transmission. If it has a 5 speed then it should be the short through transmission that most people want. So depending on how much you pay for it and what your build is, it might be worth it.

  6. Hello, I'm trying to find out how much my P90 Cylinder head has been resurfaced? Someone have me a number of 4.218" but when I measure the head height it seem to be 4.228". Was wondering if this is the height for an E88 head. Looking for the stock height for the P90, P90a.

     

    Then if my head has been resurfaced .025" and I want to have a total of .080", i'm assuming that I need to tell the machinest to resurface my head .080-.025 = .055". Once thats done than I should be able to install shims under my cam towers to raise them .080" and add the longer valve stems etc...
