I have been reading a ton on this site and am ready to post wiring directions on the combo switch for those of you using an EZ Wiring harness. There may be some differences between what model combo switch you have; the one I am working with is off of a 260z and has a 9 pin wiper connector. Some of you may disagree with my wire labeling; well you are wrong; I got it from a guy who restores the combo switches and has done so for over 2 decades. I am going to trust his info and my success with wiring. You will notice a few changes in my chart than in previous posts by other members. Again, I know mine works and has not been altered in any way from the original Datsun wire colors and functions. Let me know if you have any questions. I am running a full LED lighting system around the car. 260z Combo Switch to EZ Wiring Harness.pdf

Need a 1973 headlight combo switch, im in nj so can drive or factor that for shipping Mine crapped out, i tried cleaning that little box with the tabs that controls the headlights and tail lights but the issues was with those little caps that cover the springs in the mechanism they were totally messed up and that whole box is kind of dead.... looking for either entire assembly or just the little headlight box with the rocker switches and those 2 springs with the little caps. Attached a pic of the box and the little caps over the springs, let me know what you have! car isnt really entirely drivable with out this! thank you!

So given our cars are 40+ years or so old now, these old switches and levers are worn out and hard to find for a reasonable price. Even if you do find one restored.. it is still using old technology. Almost every aspect of our cars now has some form or another of modernized upgrades. From headlights to suspension, you can upgrade your Z to be more modern... but the steering column switches! I think it's time we start looking into finding a replacement or design a new one ourselves. I'm going to start taking measurements of the column and see if it's possible to make a new switch system. I have a 50x50 cnc router that I made long ago, and can probably use that to make new parts. (I currently need to retrieve it from storage tho as I recently moved..) Either make new parts using modern switch technology, or find a replacement steering column switch from another car that could be adapted with a bit of wiring. Lets discuss what options we have and see if we can all make the Z a better car than it is!
