jDM-S30 Posted May 13, 2011 Share Posted May 13, 2011 So I picked up my second Z. A 1975 280z. I got my first 260z when I was 14, now i'm 17 and got this one. The car and myself are located here in Phoenix. Now about the car, it has 80,000 miles on the body. Sat for about ten years, since 2001. Car came with all kinds of paper work showing the work done throughout the years, & paint and all. I bought the car for $900, clean title. In my opinion, I got a good deal. But it's gonna take some TLC to get back it back to the position I want it to. Will post pictures of my progress. Starting with pictures from the day I got it. jDM-S30 Posted May 15, 2011 Author Share Posted May 15, 2011 Did a 3 step process on the paint, Used Turtle wax rubbing compound, Followed by Meguiars ultimate rubbing compound, & then waxed it. The car ran, but the intake valves were all sticking, so I pulled the head, And was advised it would break down everything if I put it in diesel fuel, so I did that to remove the valves. And at that point, I just figured I might as well pull the engine to clean and paint, and replace all of the gaskets. Wasn't quite necessary, just wanted to do it for my satisfaction knowing the car sat for ten years. Simply wanted to play it safe. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
