Swift Speed/Rolling Star Posted August 25, 2011 Share Posted August 25, 2011 (edited) Hello Hybrids, just wanted to know where I can find a decent S30 5spd MT or S130 NA/FI 5spd manual trans around the so cal area...ANy help would be much appreciated. I was thinking about having mine rebuilt but mind as well opt for the BW T5 since I want to do an L28ET swap in the future. Any leads besides Craigslist or Ebay. Haven't had much luck there... grretc Posted August 27, 2011 Share Posted August 27, 2011 i'm not sure how long you have been reading this forum but let me help you identify 5 speed tranny. the ears are located right under the shift. rejracer Posted August 29, 2011 Share Posted August 29, 2011 1 ear = close ratio 81-83 280zx 2 ear = 280z and early 79-80 280zx 79zx transmissions had the Porsche servo style 5th gear synchro and were wide ratio. 80zx had the borg warner syle 5th gear synchro 81 was the first year of close ratio and higher 5th gear.
