dpuma8
I wanted to do the 240sx transmission swap to my L28et and I read about swapping the FS5 one in with modifications. Someone on Craigslist is selling a 240sx transmission but it says TA-71B on it. I haven't read anywhere about this transmission. Is this the same transmission as the FS5? Can I swap this one into my car?

19762802+2
TA-71b Sounds like it would be an Automatic, but I wouldn't know. Edited February 1, 2012 by 19762802+
beermanpete
The 240SX engine has a different bolt pattern for the bell housing. Therefore, transmission from the 240SX is not a direct bolt-on to the 280Z.
NewZed
The 240SX transmission up to 96 is the FS5W71C, I believe. Nissan changed the last letter for minor variations but they were all FS5W71_. I don't think that the numbers on the transmission case tell you anything.
dpuma8
So is there anywhere on the transmission where it should say FS5W71C?
