Nv_s30
Ive had my 77' 280z for almost 4 years but just started working on it. I decided to do a blacktop sr20det swap with a Holset hy35 running 15psi for daily driver. When I started to do work on it Here are some pics of me starting most of the work and parts I have I am missing some pics I'll be doing updates soon tho. Test fitting the motor before I weld in the mounts. My brother welding in the mounts How the car sits just moved so now it's in my garage Some parts I have. I have many more just no pics of them lol Motor before new turbo And new turbo how it sits Will update soon sorry for so many pics on the first post ha
cockerstar
Looks like you're making some pretty good progress! I would seriously consider having someone with some more experience look at those welds on the engine mounts though. They don't have any kind of penetration and are very weak. Nv_s30
I had them redone they did have penetration but our old welder gave out so we bought a nice Hobart gas welder
Overkill Z
Just checked out your build... Looking good! Also you have to mount the intercooler lower then you have it FYI
VKLR
I just got my SR swap done. Trust me you will want to go to the rubber mount instead of the poly.

Nv_s30
I just got my SR swap done. Trust me you will want to go to the rubber mount instead of the poly. Really? Why is that?
VKLR
With the poly bushings i feel like my gauges are going to pop out of the dash. Driving is fine but at idle it vibrates too much.
Nv_s30
O damn I'll keep that in mind. But how does the sr feel in the Datsun?
VKLR
I just did my alignment tonight. I need to install my good wheels and tires to see how it handles. Other than the horrendous vibration at idle i really like it. I'm currently running stock boost, actually a tad below stock boost. Good power, i feel at this point it's slightly faster than the L28. During my project i kept flipping back and fourth between "it's going to be worth it" to "why didn't i just rebuild the L28". I still have a few things to do but glad i went with the SR
Nv_s30
O really alright so I hope with my setup I'll be happy. Are you gonna turn up the boost?
VKLR
Heck yea, once i get everything sorted.
Nv_s30
How much did you spend with everything to get yours running
VKLR
I don't think i want to add everything up. The "while i'm at it" list was more than the initial budget.
Jsal32
Is it necessary to remove the hood latch on the body? Once the engine is in it doesn't look like it would b in the way?
Nv_s30
No I don't think so you need to cut the bottom and re brace it. But I'm gonna take it all off since I'm going with flush mount hood pins
VKLR
My hood latch is 100% stock, no problems.
Nv_s30
Mine hit with the McKinney mounts so I took advantage of it to do the flush mount hood pins Edited May 17, 2012 by Nv_s30
