Xepher2792
I was installing a new coil into my 77 280z the other day and there is a wire above the coil that came off of a small barrel thing and I have no idea what it is. So here are pictures of this thing and I would like to know what this is and if it is something I should reconnect (it most likely is). Xepher2792
Oh wow I figured the forum would auto resize them. Here are better pictures (hopefully). Edit: They were still huge so i made them smaller. Edit Again: The image uploader is being annoying. Got it. Josh280z
I will look on my car, and let you know what it is hooked up too. I have seen that cylinder before in my car.
dexter72
That looka to be an Ignition noise suppressor to limit noise in the radio. Edited March 30, 2012 by dexter72
bjhines
In most cases, The capacitor attaches to the negative side of the coil. The capacitor(condenser) does more than just noise suppression. It helps to collapse the magnetic field faster and slightly increases spark potential.
