pcruz620
Hi everybody. Just had a newbie question to ask. I'm swapping in an l28 motor into my 260 and I was planning to use the headers that's currently on the car. I've realized that the 280 P79 exhaust ports are slightly different from the 260 E88 exhaust ports. Motosports auto, who I got my headers from, told me that it shouldn't be a problem and I can see that the differences aren't really that big. I just wanted to know what you guys thought. I posted a picture of the two gaskets. The P79 gasket on top and the E88 header gasket on the bottom. Also, in this situation I would use the 260 E88 header gasket in the bottom right? luseboy
As far as I'm aware, you can use pretty much any L header on pretty much any head within the L series. Are you running efi or carbs? For efi, run a new one of the top one from your picture. For carbs, run a new one of the bottom one.

Just to clarify you can't just use ANY L header in ANY L head...square port headers can go on square OR round port heads, round port headers can go on ONLY heads with round ports. To the OP, as long as you go by what I just said, you'll be fine (with regards to the exhaust portion)
pcruz620
Ay thanks guys! Yeah, I'm running on SUs and I guess it only makes sense to go with the gasket that they provided with the header so I guess it'll be the bottom one. Appreciate it.
