I was at Checker the other day and I saw a Holly four barrel throttle body setup for 700 bucks. It is 670cfm and totally self contained. It is also adjustable by you home PC. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this setup.

I fooled around with one on a Chev 327 once. Let me make it brief. They work amazingly good off the bottom, especially if you have a hot cam. They absolutely suck on the top end. I couldn't get mine to rev above 5200 rpm. Neither I nor anyone else can explain why. This is why they are popular among the 4x4 and rockcrawling guys. Midrange is about the same as a good carb. You say its a 670? Are you sure it is a 4 barrel, because mine was a 670 but a 2 barrel (those 2 barrels are huge, though).

My brother has run a holley digital throttle body FI (900cfm) for the last three years on a 426 Ford Windsor in a early Falcon. The ecu controlls spark advance as well as fuel. Took about three weeks of road testing to get it programed, but he really likes it. Runs 10.80's @ 128 mph (really traction limited) at Sacramento Raceway.

Hey All,

I don't surf this forum much because I am a Chevy guy, but I happend to see the title (perhaps this should be in the EFI forum).

Anyway, I have the 700 cfm Holley 4Di that I have had much experience with. The system can work very well if you are patient and have a data acquisition program that can talk to the system. See my website for more discussion on it. Come back if there are any other questions.

If it's the new Holley system its the Commander 950 computer, and the throttle body, etc. has been redesigned also, over the older 4D and 4Di systems.

I've been haggling with myself for months about whether to just drop the cash on this $1400 system for my 327. With my current carb woes with a 57 degree overlap cam, it may not be long in th future.

The commander 950 stuff has gotten alot of good reviews in the mags and on the Internet. Supposedly this system is much better than the older 4D/4Di system.f

Now, if I could just convince myself that the added benefits of port injection were really worth it, I could make a decision between a TBI or port 950 system. The $1000 difference doesn't quite seem worth it to me.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I was talking about the old analog controlled Pro-Jection. I don't have any experience with the digital, but they surely work better. But, I'd like to mention that the Commander 950 can be bought as an ECU kit only, and will control any multi-port injection you want. I've got one but haven't hooked it up to my TFS Track Heat MPI manifold yet. It is batch fire, though.
