slammed260z
Hi guys, i am kinda new to the performance section. I have read a lot but there is too much information and because everything is in english it is not easy to understand everything is told. I am from The Netherlands and i have a 1975 260z 2+2 with: -L26 Engine -e88 head -p30 block -Su carbureteurs with the right manifold i guess. -Janspeed exhaust manifold -I am going to make a 2 or 2,5 inch free flow exhaust. -5 speed manual transmission I can buy a 280zx engine with or without a automatic tranny for cheap money. Haven't asked yet which year 280zx, so i dont know the head and engine block. I think i want to install a rb25 engine in the car but for now ( maybe a year, meybe more ) i want to drive with the standard engine. But i was also thinking about building a stroke but i gues that is more expensive. So what are my options? I think i want to keep the carbs because these are better for performance then injection? What can i combine to get bigger compression or better performance without putting a lot of effort and money in the engine? regarding the l26 and l28 And will my 5 speed tranny of the l26 fit the 280zx engine? thank you guys Edited June 13, 2012 by slammed260z
ctc
You should spend some time searching on this site. All the points you touched on have been answered many times. There are even a few of your fellow countrymen if you look for them. Buy the book "How to Modify Your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine" You also need to ask specific questions. It's your car, how do we know what you like. The 5 speed will fit. Tune up on the L26 you got is best money spent till the RB. Otherwise you are spending money twice. johnc
IMHO, the performance difference between the 2.6L engine you have and the 2.8L engine you're talking about has more to do with the condition of each engine then the displacement. If I was planning a RB25 swap I would not buy the 2.8L engine and save my money for the RB.
