zercs280zx
Thanks. I'm running fuel only with the Crane box controlling spark. I don't need to lock the dizzy in this case (MS is not controlling spark), I can advance and retard spark with the dizzy correct? I'm pretty sure about this, I just need to confirm this so I'm all set to go,.
skirkland1980
Your crane box should have a tach output which should work for MS tach input. Is the crane box controlling spark advance/retard? If not you don't have to lock to distributor.
zercs280zx
There are 2 wires twisted together in there. Skip ahead to 1:40 to see how I wired the distributor Thanks for the visual. I'm still confused though... you are saying that you twist the red and green wires from the dizzy and connect that to the shielded Ignition in? I thought one was the trigger and one was grounded. Anyone using a crane or MSD box with megasuirt? Did you have to lock the dizzy?
Matt Cramer
If you want the MS to control the timing, either lock the distributor or use a crank trigger.
zercs280zx
They're the large blue or gray boxes with little screw heads on top, in the middle of the main board. Matt, I'm just getting back to my project.... I tried to adjust the pots by turning them counter clockwise. I did not hear a pop like the msns extra write up mentioned. I made 20+ ccw turns without a click. Do you know how many ccw turns I should make? Edited April 19, 2013 by zercs280zx
Matt Cramer
Depending on the part number, some of them don't really make a click. But they are generally 18 to 20 turns end to end and will not be harmed by too many turns.
