Guest Anonymous
I just got a 73 240z for cheap.. it has tripple mikunis, headers, good ignition etc... The l24 is screwed (someone who test drove it thrashed it and then left)... Should I: A) Get the l24 a performance rebuild by rebello. ( I live right by his shop) Take the head (e88) and carbs and put it onto my 280's block and get that rebuilt with flat top pistons. C) Take the turbo motor from my 83zxt and have that rebuilt and take all the smog crap off and throw it in the 240 and use the money from the sale of the mikunis to pay for it... My parents dont like the turbo idea, and they really dont like a v8z. Fraga
DavyZ
Andy, the turbo idea is VERY cool since your parents are uncool about the V8. You can always smooth it over by telling them, "Hey, it's just another Datsun motor with a little more umph." Think that will fly? Congrats on your new ride BTW. Guest Zpeed
or just say u'll turn down the boost untill they belive you have enough driving experiance, if thats the problem, but also have a little turbo boost switch to change the boost to 18psi just for the type r bashing
Guest Anonymous
boost is so tempting... I think I'll go to rebello tomorrow and talk to them about some prices etc.. too many choices... hehe Fraga
Guest Anonymous
well if u already got the turbo motor but dont already have the v8 then do the turbo. also it should be cheaper because u dont gotta buy anything because i read that it just goes right in and makes decent power. pparaska
Rebello? Hope you've got lots of time and money! Turbo it and the high end machine work/porting/etc. won't be needed!
Guest Anonymous
is rebello really that expensive? Anyone know of any shops near walnut creek,CA that are worth going to get the turbo engine rebuilt? I still havent decided though, I like the way the mikunis feel... I don't need anything crazy fast. fl327
id say" hey im just putting a FACTORY motor in", specify the factoryness and the smoothness of the changeover. just make sure you say the three magic words O E M.
Guest Anonymous
Yeah about how much does a rebuild cost? And how difficult is it to rebuild the engine yourself if you had the time?
